Privacy Policy

MaxScanner is a document scanning, PDF, and file-management app published by Jobiba. This policy explains, in plain terms, what information MaxScanner collects, why, who it's shared with, and how you can review, export, or delete it — including how to request full account and data deletion by emailing info@jobiba.com.

01

Overview

MaxScanner turns your camera into a document scanner: it detects page edges, enhances and crops photos into clean scans, and lets you export them as PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or image files. Most of that work — edge detection, cropping, color enhancement, OCR text recognition — happens directly on your device. This policy covers the app end to end: the scans and files you create, the optional account and cloud-sync features, the ads that support the free version, and every permission the app asks for.

This policy applies to the MaxScanner Android app (package com.jobiba.docscanner) and to any web pages we host in connection with it. It does not cover third-party apps or websites you may reach through links inside MaxScanner.

02

Information we collect

We collect different information depending on which features you actually use.

Content you create

Photos you scan, the cropped/enhanced pages, PDFs and other files you export, folder and document names, notes, and any text MaxScanner recognizes on a page via on-device OCR. By default this content stays in your device's local storage, inside the app's own folders.

Account information

If you choose to sign in (to enable cloud sync, or "Sign in with Google" / "Continue with Facebook"), we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google or Meta, and create an account for you using Firebase Authentication. We never see or store your Google or Facebook password.

Cloud sync & backup data

If you turn on cloud sync or create a backup, your scanned documents and their metadata (group names, page order, tags) are uploaded to our Firebase (Google Cloud) project so they can be restored on another device. Manual backup files you export are encrypted before being written to storage you choose.

Google Drive & Gmail import data

The optional "Import from Cloud" feature asks for your permission to read your Google Drive files and Gmail attachments so you can browse and pull specific files into MaxScanner. We only request read-only access, only fetch the files you explicitly choose to import, and we never read the body of emails beyond locating document attachments.

Location data

If you grant location permission, MaxScanner can attach the coordinates of where a document was scanned as metadata on that document ("geotagging"), so you can later tell where a scan was made. This is optional and off unless you enable it.

Device & diagnostic data

Like most apps, we automatically receive some technical data: device model and OS version, app version, language, crash reports and stack traces (via Firebase Crashlytics), and coarse usage analytics (via Firebase Analytics) such as which screens are opened and which features are used. This is used to fix bugs and improve the app, not to identify you personally.

Advertising identifiers

The free, ad-supported version of MaxScanner shows ads through Google AdMob and its mediation partners. Those partners may collect your advertising ID and other technical signals to show and measure ads. See Section 6 for details and how to opt out.

Purchase information

Subscriptions and one-time upgrades are processed by Google Play Billing. MaxScanner receives confirmation that a purchase was made and its status, but never sees your card number or full billing details — Google handles that directly.

02

How we use your information

  • To scan, enhance, organize, and export your documents on your device.
  • To sign you in and keep your account working across devices, if you choose to use an account.
  • To sync and back up your documents so you can restore them if you reinstall the app or switch phones.
  • To let you browse and import files you choose from Google Drive or Gmail.
  • To attach location metadata to a scan, only if you've turned that on.
  • To diagnose crashes, fix bugs, and understand which features are actually used.
  • To show and measure ads in the free version, and to manage your active subscription.
  • To respond to support requests and data deletion requests sent to info@jobiba.com.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the content of your scanned documents to train any AI or machine-learning model.

04

Permissions this app uses

Android asks you to approve each of these individually. Here's what each one is actually for.

Permission What it's for Data leaves the device?
Camera Capturing pages to scan. No
Photos / media & storage Saving scans and exports; importing existing photos and files. No
Location (fine/coarse) Optional geotagging of where a document was scanned. No
Biometric / fingerprint Locking specific documents or folders behind your device's own fingerprint/face unlock. No
Notifications Alerting you when background file indexing finds new documents, or a cloud sync finishes.
Background / foreground service Keeping a sync or file-indexing job running briefly while the app isn't in the foreground. Only if cloud sync is on
Internet & network state Cloud sync, ads, sign-in, and cloud import. Yes, for those features
05

Third-party services

MaxScanner relies on the following services to work. Each has its own privacy policy governing how it handles data on our behalf.

Service Used for Their policy
Google Firebase (Auth, Firestore, Crashlytics, Analytics, Remote Config, App Check) Sign-in, cloud sync/backup, crash reporting, product analytics. policies.google.com/privacy
Google Sign-In / Drive / Gmail API "Continue with Google" and the Import from Cloud feature. policies.google.com/privacy
Google AdMob Serving ads in the free version. policies.google.com/technologies/ads
Meta Audience Network & Facebook Login Ad mediation, and "Continue with Facebook" sign-in. facebook.com/privacy/policy

06

Advertising & your consent choices

The free version of MaxScanner is supported by banner, interstitial, native, and rewarded ads. Where required by law (for example, under GDPR in the UK/EEA), MaxScanner shows a consent prompt the first time you open the app, built on Google's User Messaging Platform, and will not personalize ads until you've made a choice.

You can change your ad consent or personalization choice at any time from Settings → Privacy Policy / Ad Consent inside the app, or reset your advertising ID from your device's own Settings → Privacy → Ads menu.

Purchasing the ad-free/Pro upgrade removes ads and the associated ad-network data collection going forward.

07

Storage, security & retention

Scanned documents live in MaxScanner's own storage on your device unless you explicitly export, share, or sync them elsewhere. Manual backups are encrypted before being written to disk. Data we hold on our servers (account profile, synced documents, crash/analytics events) is stored on Google Cloud/Firebase infrastructure with encryption in transit and at rest.

We keep account and synced-document data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a document or folder in the app, we remove it from cloud sync on the next successful sync. If you delete your account (Section 9), we delete the associated cloud data, typically within 30 days, except where we're required to keep certain records (for example, purchase records) for a longer period by law.

08

Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and associated data (see Section 9).
  • Export your documents — use the in-app Export or Backup feature at any time, no request needed.
  • Withdraw consent for ad personalization or optional permissions (location, notifications) at any time, from the app or your device settings.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing, where applicable law provides for it.

To exercise any of these rights, email info@jobiba.com. We'll respond within 30 days.

09

Deleting your data

You're always in control of what MaxScanner keeps. There are two levels of deletion:

Deleting scans on your device

Delete any document, folder, or the app's Trash directly inside MaxScanner — this removes it from your device (and from cloud sync, if enabled) immediately.

Deleting your account and all associated data

Request full account & data deletion

To permanently delete your MaxScanner account and every piece of personal data we hold about you — profile info, synced documents, backup metadata, and purchase history — email us from the address associated with your account and ask us to delete it.

  1. Email info@jobiba.com with the subject line "Delete my MaxScanner data."
  2. Include the email address you used to sign in (Google or Facebook), so we can locate your account.
  3. We'll confirm your request and complete deletion within 30 days, then email you to confirm it's done.
Email info@jobiba.com to request deletion

Uninstalling the app only removes data stored on your device — it does not delete an account or any data already synced to our servers. Use the request above for that.

10

Children's privacy

MaxScanner is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact info@jobiba.com and we will delete it.

11

International use & data transfers

MaxScanner is available worldwide. Data collected through cloud features may be processed and stored in countries other than your own, including the United States, wherever our service providers (such as Google Firebase) operate their infrastructure. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.

12

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as MaxScanner's features change. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Effective" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you inside the app. Continuing to use MaxScanner after an update means you accept the revised policy.
