πJob Description
White blood cells (WBCs), also known as leukocytes, are an essential part of the body's immune system. They act as the body's natural defense mechanism, protecting against infections, viruses, bacteria, fungi, and other harmful invaders. Produced primarily in the bone marrow, white blood cells play a critical role in maintaining overall health and fighting disease. There are several types of white blood cells, each with a specific function. Neutrophils help combat bacterial infections, lymphocytes produce antibodies and support immune responses, while monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils help fight infections and manage inflammation. Together, these cells work to identify and eliminate threats to the body.
