A World-Changing Company Palantir builds the world’s leading software for data-driven decisions and operations. By bringing the right data to the people who need it, our platforms empower our partners to develop lifesaving drugs, forecast supply chain disruptions, locate missing children, and more. The Role Palantir builds applications that help customers organize, understand, and make decisions based on their data. Because these applications serve different roles within an organization's workflow, users frequently have multiple applications open at once, and expect them to work together seamlessly. While backend services handle much of this coordination, delivering a truly fast and responsive experience requires applications to also directly interact with each other through client-side frameworks running in the browser. Building these frameworks is uniquely challenging: every Palantir application plays a distinct role and has its own set of first-class UX concepts, yet the frameworks need to integrate cleanly into all of them. Success requires both strong API design skills and a keen eye for user experience. The frontend frameworks our team builds serve a variety of functions across Palantir's application ecosystem. Some frameworks integrate deeply with the Palantir Ontology—a foundational layer that provides a schema for defining objects and relationships between them. These frameworks enable real-time data synchronization across applications: for example, when a user selects an Ontology object on a map, data plots in a different application instantly update to show that object's properties. Other frameworks operate independently of the Ontology: for example, one framework allows applications to define custom behaviors that can be invoked by other applications or even by AI agents, giving them the flexibility to expose arbitrary functionality across the platform. Core Responsibilities As a software engineer on this team, you'll work with these cross-ap

Must be based in Vancouver The role We're hiring a dedicated data engineer to own the production data platform that our delivery, product, and engineering teams run on; designing integrated, governed data pipelines and delivering automated reporting, AI-assisted workflows, and predictive signals on top of them. You'll write production code, design systems, own CI/CD, and be accountable for the correctness of data that leaders make decisions on. What you'll do Design and operate our cloud data platform: ingestion, transformation, orchestration and serving. Integrate data from across the business (delivery tooling, CRM, product telemetry, finance, support and customer feedback systems) with shared identifiers, data contracts and lineage. Build automated and continuously refreshed reporting so teams manage by exception rather than chasing status. Connect approved AI agents to governed data with structured outputs, provenance, guardrails and human approval in the loop. At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Automation - Foundations team, you will lead the re-platforming of the data layer underneath Vanta’s entire compliance product. This is a migration that spans multiple teams, has to preserve every public API contract along the way, and cannot lose a single customer’s evidence while it happens. Foundations is Vanta’s data platform team. We ingest security and compliance data from across our customer’s environments, currently tens of thousands of resources per second, with single-customer bursts running into the millions. We store the data, catalog it, make it queryable, and turn it into evidence that has to survive a real SOC 2 or FedRAMP audit. We are in the middle of moving our platform from a Mongo-centric architecture to a schema-aware, Postgres-backed architecture, on a Kafka and S3 pipeline that decouples data fetching from processing. Both pipelines run in parallel today, the hard problems here are correctness under migration, eventual consistency, and multi-tenancy, in a domain where “mostly right” is not an acceptable failure mode. Visit our Vanta Engineering Blog to learn more about what our team is working on. What you'll do as a Staff Software Engineer at Vanta: Lead the migration of Vanta’s resource data model from a Mongo-centric solution to a schema-aware Postgres-backed solution and running both generations in parallel without breaking a customer integration. Drive solutions across teams that you do not own but are dependent on the platform built by your team. Design for correctness under eventual consistency with idempotent session handling, conditional writes that survive out
