To achieve this the Global Operations Team is at the heart of delighting our customers, managing our partners and working closely with our technology partners to drive innovation through process automation. The Opportunity: The Operations Associate role, based in Melbourne, is a rare opportunity to be at the ground floor of Flexport Australia’s growth. As one of our earliest team members in the region, you will wear many hats and play a defining role in shaping our operations, culture, and client experience. This is a career-defining role with a clear path forward. You will develop a deep understanding of global logistics end-to-end, from operations and process design to client management and commercial strategy, working alongside country leadership, operations management, and sales teams. This breadth of exposure is intentional: we want to develop the next generation of logistics leaders. What You Will Do: The role is anchored in operations, with a strong bent towards process improvement and automation. Core tasks: Execute end-to-end shipments across all modes (FCL, LCL, Air, import and export), including bookings, documentation, and milestone tracking. As a member of our operations team, you will be accountable for driving revenue by ensuring that Scale AI meets customer commitments in a timely manner while maintaining the highest quality standards. You will manage our supply operation funnel by building and running solutions, tools, and processes by working with a cross-functional team including Customer Operations, Product Operations, Product Managers, and many others. You will be solving problems no one has solved before, and you will need to be relentless in driving stellar results, running pilots, tests, and experiments. The bottleneck is data. UC Berkeley’s Prof. Ken Goldberg calls it the “100,000-year data gap”: the chasm between the massive text datasets used to train language models and the tiny amount of real-world, physical-dexterity data available to train robots. The entire robotics industry collected only ~100,000 hours of training data in 2024 and ~1 million in 2025 — and even the ~20 million hours projected for 2026 is still less than 0.04% of what is ultimately needed. IRL exists to close that gap. Using Instacore — a wearable multi-camera and sensor system (head, chest, and wrist cameras plus IMUs and a compute pack) — our field teams capture synchronized, high-diversity egocentric data of real people doing real tasks across real commercial environments: kitchens, warehouses, hotels, retail, and light manufacturing. That data is quality-checked, anonymized, and delivered to the world’s leading robotics companies and foundation-model labs to teach robots how to operate in the messy physical world.
