Job description

About the Team The Plugin Developer Platform team builds the APIs, SDKs, and tools that let people extend ChatGPT and Codex. We work on plugins, connectors, the Model Context Protocol (MCP), and interactive apps. We want anyone to be able to turn a useful workflow into a plugin, share it, and have other people use it. A plugin can package instructions and skills with connections to the tools and data it needs. Our work covers plugin creation and publishing, the systems that run plugins across our products, and open standards that developers can build on. About the Role We’re looking for platform-minded engineers who know what it takes to build a platform developers want to use. You’ll work across developer-facing interfaces, APIs, and backend systems. You’ll own features from the first developer conversation through implementation and release. You’ll talk directly with developers, partne

About the Team The Ecosystem AI Deployment Engineering (ADE) team supports strategic partners as they build high-quality technical integrations into ChatGPT and Codex. Our goal is to create products users depend on, drive adoption and retention, and build an ecosystem where partners win when OpenAI wins. About the Role We are looking for an AI Deployment Engineer to help strategic partners design, build, evaluate, submit, launch, and maintain high-utility plugins for ChatGPT and Codex. This is a hands-on, partner-facing product engineering role for someone who can contribute to the platform itself, lead sophisticated partner engagements, and translate ambiguous product needs into production-ready integrations. You will work across partner product and engineering teams and OpenAI's product, engineering, partnerships, legal, policy, design, and go-to-market teams. You will identify the right use cases, prototype and review implementations, run evaluations, debug issues across systems, guide partners through submission and review, and support launch and post-launch iteration. The best person for this role moves fluidly between code, product judgment, project leadership, and clear communication with engineers and executives. This role is a fit for a product minded engineer who wants to stay close to users and partners while still going deep on code, reliability, evaluations, and developer experience. The goal is to help partners ship plugins that are not merely technically functional, but genuinely useful in ChatGPT and Codex. This role is based in our San Francisco office. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role, you will: Own the technical partner journey for priority B2B plugins—from pitch and readiness assessment through architecture, build, evaluation, submission, launch, and ongoing maintenance. Identify strong plugin use cases, define crisp user journeys and expected behaviors, and

About the Team The Plugin Ecosystem team builds the platform and product experiences that let people extend ChatGPT and Codex. We work on plugins, skills, connectors, interactive apps, and open standards like the Model Context Protocol (MCP). We make plugins easy to discover, install, and use, ensure they’re invoked at the right time, and help people find new ways to get value from them. We want anyone to be able to turn a useful workflow into a plugin, share it, and have other people use it. A plugin can package instructions and skills with connections to the tools and data it needs. Our work spans creation and publishing, reliable execution across our products, clear permissions and approvals, and the controls admins need to bring plugins to their organizations. We work closely with research to improve plugin quality as models evolve. About the Role We’re looking for product-minded engineers to build the systems behind plugins and improve how models use them. Depending on your focus, you may scale generalist infrastructure and identity-related integrations across products, or improve plugin quality at the intersection of backend engineering and applied AI or work on the product experience itself to drive plugin usage. You’ll work across teams and own problems from diagnosis and design through implementation and release. This role is based in San Francisco. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role, you will: Design and ship APIs, SDKs, and services that developers use to extend ChatGPT and Codex. Build intuitive experiences that help users discover, install, and use plugins to get more done. Make plugins easier to create, test, publish, update, and share. Improve when and how models use plugins, from choosing the right plugin to completing a task. Work with Research to diagnose failures and measure improvements as models evolve. Improve plugin reliability and interaction quality acros

About the team The Applied team safely brings OpenAI's technology to the world. We released ChatGPT; Plugins; DALL·E; and the APIs for GPT-5, embeddings, and fine-tuning. We also operate inference infrastructure at scale. There's a lot more on the immediate horizon. Our customers build fast-growing businesses around our APIs, which power product features that were never before possible. ChatGPT is a prime example of what is currently possible. We simultaneously ensure that our powerful tools are used responsibly. Safe deployment is more important to us than unfettered growth. The Fraud Engineering team works within our Applied Engineering organization identifying and responding to fraudsters on our platform. We are looking for a software engineer with anti fraud & abuse experience to help architect and build our next-generation anti-fraud systems. About the role The Scaled Abuse team protects OpenAI’s products and customers by detecting, preventing, and responding to fraudulent and abusive behavior at scale. We build and operate the backend and data systems that power real-time detection, investigation workflows, and enforcement — balancing strong protections with a great user experience as the platform grows. Our work sits at the intersection of engineering and abuse expertise: we partner closely with Trust & Safety, Security, and Product to understand emerging attack patterns, translate messy signals into clear system behavior, and continuously harden our defenses. The problems are dynamic and ambiguous by default, so we value engineers who can quickly dive into an unfamiliar codebase, develop strong intuition about how it works end-to-end, and propose pragmatic improvements that make the entire stack more resilient. In this role, you will: Design and build systems for fraud detection and remediation while balancing fraud loss, cost of implementation, and customer experience Work closely with finance, security, product, research, and trust & safety ope

About the Team The Applied AI team safely brings OpenAI's technology to the world. We released ChatGPT, Plugins, DALL·E, and the APIs for GPT-4, GPT-3, embeddings, and fine-tuning. We also operate inference infrastructure at scale. There's a lot more on the immediate horizon. We seek to learn from deployment and distribute the benefits of AI, while ensuring that this powerful tool is used responsibly and safely. Safety is more important to us than unfettered growth. We serve end-users directly through ChatGPT, and serve developers through our APIs, which power product features that were never before possible. About the Role The Engineering Acceleration team designs, builds and maintains the foundational systems that engineers use to build ChatGPT and the API. This is a fast-growing team and you will get a chance to own and define the strategy, vision, and plan for how to increase developer productivity. In this role, you will: Drive the design, development, and implementation of tools, systems, and processes that accelerate engineering velocity, reduce manual effort, and increase the quality of output. Use our latest AI tools to re-think how we can be the most productive team in the industry. Work closely with various teams within OpenAI to understand their workflows, challenges, and needs, and ensure the tools and systems built by the Engineering Acceleration team address these requirements. About the Team Enterprise Verticals builds role-specific ChatGPT Work experiences for high-value enterprise workflows. We combine product engineering, plugins and skills, connectors, data, evaluations, and customer evidence to turn useful demos into reliable daily work. This opening sits within the Technology vertical inside Enterprise Verticals. The group focuses on repeatable workflows for people at technology companies, beginning with functions such as data and analytics, sales, and design, and carries the shared platform needs—tool integration, permissions, quality measurement, and safe rollout—across those experiences. We work closely with Design, Research, GTM, Security, and platform teams, as well as with customers and design partners. Success means that people can reach a trustworthy first result, understand what the system did, and keep using the workflow—not merely that a prototype exists. About the Role We are looking for a full-stack product engineer who can own ambiguous enterprise workflows end to end: understand a customer problem, shape the product, build across frontend and backend, work through platform dependencies, instrument quality, and learn quickly with design partners. You will build across ChatGPT Work surfaces, services, plugins, connectors, and data or permission boundaries when the experience requires it. You will make quality and rollout observable through evaluations, product and operational signals, and clear fallback or rollback paths. This is a product-engineering role for someone who can move between user problems and system details without losing ownership of either. The strongest candidates will be able to turn specific customer evidence into a generalizable product, explain scope and architecture tradeoffs, and carry a feature from an early prototype through a bounded production rollout. In this role, you will: Build and ship role-specific workflows across ChatGPT Work surfaces, services, plugins, and connectors. Turn customer a
