The contest between the United States and China for technological supremacy – spanning artificial intelligence, semiconductors, robotics and other emerging fields – is one of the defining stories of our time. We are looking for a journalist who can break news from companies and governments across Asia and translate complex technical developments into clear and compelling journalism for a broad audience. A firm understanding of the geopolitical context to technology is necessary. China will be central to the beat, reflecting its importance to the region and the global economy. The ideal candidate is an energetic and determined beat reporter who thrives on competition and ambitious storytelling. The role calls for a rich mix of scoops, breaking news, analysis, explainers and enterprise reporting that reveals the forces reshaping technology, business and geopolitics. Although the reporting will begin in Asia, stories must draw wider global connections. The reporter will work closely with correspondents around the world and collaborate across Business, International, Breaking News, Video and Graphics, contributing to articles, live coverage, newsletters, audio, visual journalism and other formats.
