About the Team The OpenAI for Government AI Architect team partners with public sector organizations to turn OpenAI's most capable models into meaningful, real-world impact. We work with government agencies, public institutions, and partner organizations serving the government to identify where AI can advance critical missions, design secure and scalable solutions, and help those solutions move from early exploration into sustained production adoption. The team brings together technical strategy, customer partnership, and practical deployment expertise, working closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, Research, Security, Global Affairs, and specialist delivery teams to help public sector customers adopt advanced AI responsibly and effectively. About the Role As an AI Architect, you will be the senior technical owner for a named portfolio of customers and the primary technical counterpart to their leadership teams. You will shape each customer's AI strategy and guide their journey from pre-sales discovery and solution evaluation through deployment, adoption, and measurable mission impact. You will own the technical account plan across ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI API, Codex, and other agentic AI solutions. In partnership with the Account Director, you will translate mission priorities into a focused use-case portfolio, an actionable adoption roadmap, and a clear path to durable customer value. About the Role The Enablement Lead, Government is a specialist role focused on delivering high-impact enablement and adoption services across OpenAI’s product suite. This role is responsible for designing and delivering experiences that support repeatable adoption frameworks, drive sustained activation, expand the breadth and depth of usage, and produce measurable value for government organizations. This role sits at the intersection of enablement, education, adoption, community, content, and customer experience. Our team works to empower public servants with secure, compliant AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Gov) and mission-aligned deployments that meet government technical requirements with strong reliability and safety. About the role Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) lead complex deployments of frontier models in production. You will embed with our most strategic government and public sector customers—where model performance matters, delivery is urgent, and ambiguity is the default. You’ll map their problems, structure delivery, and ship fast. This includes scoping, sequencing, and building full-stack solutions that create measurable value, while driving clarity across internal and external teams. You will work directly with defense, intelligence, and federal stakeholders as their technical thought partner, guiding adoption, maximizing mission impact, and ensuring successful deployments at scale. Along the way, you’ll identify reusable patterns, codify best practices, and share field signal that influences OpenAI’s roadmap. This role is based in Washington DC, Seattle or San Francisco.
