About the Team The OpenAI for Government AI Architect team partners with public sector organizations to turn OpenAI's most capable models into meaningful, real-world impact. We work with government agencies, public institutions, and partner organizations serving the government to identify where AI can advance critical missions, design secure and scalable solutions, and help those solutions move from early exploration into sustained production adoption. About the Role As an AI Architect, you will be the senior technical owner for a named portfolio of customers and the primary technical counterpart to their leadership teams. You will shape each customer's AI strategy and guide their journey from pre-sales discovery and solution evaluation through deployment, adoption, and measurable mission impact. You will own the technical account plan across ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI API, Codex, and other agentic AI solutions. In partnership with the Account Director, you will translate mission priorities into a focused use-case portfolio, an actionable adoption roadmap, and a clear path to durable customer value. The Account Director leads the overall account strategy and relationship, while you lead the technical strategy, customer journey, and path to production impact. As an AI Deployment Engineer (ADE) in the OpenAI for Government team, you’ll help government agencies transform their organization through solutions such as automated content generation, contextual search, and novel applications that make use of our newest, most exciting models and technology. About the Role We are looking for a driven solutions leader with a product mindset to partner with our public sector customers and ensure they achieve tangible value with GenAI. You will pair with government agencies (federal, state, and local), policymakers, and other public institutions to establish a GenAI strategy and identify the highest value applications. You’ll then partner with their technical teams, subject matter experts, systems integrators, and implementation partners to move from prototype through production. You’ll take a holistic view of their needs and design an architecture using the OpenAI API and other services to maximize customer value. About the role Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) lead complex deployments of frontier models in production. You will embed with our most strategic government and public sector customers—where model performance matters, delivery is urgent, and ambiguity is the default. You’ll map their problems, structure delivery, and ship fast. This includes scoping, sequencing, and building full-stack solutions that create measurable value, while driving clarity across internal and external teams.
