About the Team DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We explore robotics and automation to transform last-mile logistics in the long term. If you want to work on commercializing autonomy and robotics in a service used by millions of people — and on bringing the merchant partners who power that service along with us — then we want to talk to you! About the Role Come help us redefine last-mile logistics through robotics, automation, and other advanced technologies. Autonomy only works when merchants — restaurants, retailers, and other partners — can reliably interact with our robots: handing off orders, troubleshooting edge cases, and trusting the experience enough to keep using it. This role owns that side of the equation. We're looking for a Merchant Success & Growth lead to build the strategy and operational mechanisms that get merchants onboard, keep them performing, and turn their day-to-day reality into a tight feedback loop for product and engineering. You're excited about this opportunity because you will… Own merchant adoption and performance KPIs for autonomy end-to-end — defining what "successful merchant interaction with a robot" means, instrumenting it, and driving improvement against it. Build the playbooks and operational mechanisms to onboard merchants to autonomy — from first conversation through training, go-live, and steady-state ops — and scale them across markets. Partner with sales, account management, and field ops to recruit and ramp the right merchant cohorts for each stage of the product, and design experiments that test new merchant-facing features and handoff models. Define merchant performance benchmarks (handoff success rate, dwell time, dasher/robot interaction quality, merchant CSAT) and run the cadence that holds partners and internal teams accountable to them. Stand up the feedback loop from the field back to product and engineering — turning merchant complaints, edge cases, and frontline observations into prioriti
About the Team DoorDash Labs, established in 2018, serves as the innovation hub for DoorDash, focusing on developing automation and robotics solutions to enhance last-mile logistics. The team's mission is to create technologies that support and augment human networks, aiming to improve efficiency for Dashers, merchants, and consumers alike. We’re ruthlessly focused on business impact. We are a highly senior team composed of former pioneers from a variety of different robotics industries. As of 2025, DoorDash has completed 10B lifetime deliveries. We’re focused on how to do the next 10B even better. About the Role We’re looking for a Senior/Staff electrical and firmware engineer who designs the board and writes the firmware for connected consumer and enterprise devices, including tablets, POS systems, peripherals, and emerging robotics applications. In this role, you will take connected devices from ambiguous user or business needs through system architecture, rapid prototyping, board design, firmware implementation, bring-up, field deployment, and production transition. The ideal candidate has a passion for building and shipping reliable hardware at scale and thrives in an environment that demands technical depth and high-quality execution across multiple concurrent programs. This is a build-heavy role on a small, senior team. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… Own connected devices end to end, including: Own connected devices from an ambiguous product need through field deployment. Work across the hardware and firmware boundary instead of handing work between specialists. Explore uncertain product ideas through rapid prototypes and experiments. Make consequential tradeoffs on a small, senior team with direct exposure to users and field behavior. Key Responsibilities Translate user and business needs into an integrated electrical and firmware architecture. Design compute-based, mixed-signal boards incorporating processors
About the Team The Merchant (Mx) AI/ML team is a cornerstone of DoorDash’s merchant organization. We empower our restaurant partners to thrive on DoorDash by building intelligent, scalable AI systems that simplify operations, elevate their digital presence, and enhance customer engagement. This is a highly cross-functional leadership role — you’ll collaborate with product, design, operations, and data science teams to define the AI roadmap, guide technical direction, and deliver end-to-end AI/ML solutions at massive scale. You’ll lead a team of talented ML engineers who are building real AI products delivered to merchants’ fingertips, helping them become more successful on DoorDash. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… Lead and grow a team of exceptional AI/ML engineers developing production-grade machine learning and generative AI solutions for the merchant ecosystem. Define a multi-year strategy and execute the AI roadmap across key Mx pillars — Onboarding, Menu Media Understanding & Generation, Menu Metadata Intelligence, and Agentic Task Automation. Partner with product and operations to translate merchant pain points into scalable AI-powered solutions. Own the end-to-end lifecycle of ML systems — from ideation and experimentation to productionization and continuous improvement. Drive innovation in multimodal AI
