The Data Engineering Team Our Data Engineering team is part of the Technology Data & Intelligence organization, on a mission to accelerate Okta’s scale and growth. We focus on building platforms and capabilities utilized across the organization by sales, marketing, engineering, finance, product, and operations. You will be part of a team performing detailed technical designs, development, and implementation of applications using cutting-edge technology stacks. The Senior Data Engineer Opportunity As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable solutions. This is a hands-on, working manager role — you will be personally executing technical work (scripting, automation builds, escalated ticket resolution) and leading a team, not just overseeing one. You will manage a team spanning Service Desk, Tier 1 SOC support, and IT Automation Engineering — driving the technical maturity of our global support infrastructure through automation, scripting, deep systems integration, and increasingly, AI-augmented workflows (e.g. intelligent ticket triage, SOC alert summarisation, AI-assisted knowledge base drafting). We are trusted advisors to, and thought partners with, startups to ensure that OpenAI’s technology is deployed safely and effectively, whilst also partnering with engineering, research, and product to turn those insights into evaluation systems, product improvements, and better model behavior. This team sits at the intersection of customer reality and model quality. We combine hands-on technical depth with strong product judgment, helping translate complex, high-value use cases into clear signals that can improve both the customer experience and the underlying systems. This role is based in Paris. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week. We offer relocation assistance. We require fluency in French for this role.
