About the Team OpenAI’s Governance team helps shape how the company responsibly develops and deploys increasingly capable AI. We bring together technical evidence, policy, and operational perspectives to help the company address emerging risks, resolve difficult questions, and make well-supported decisions. Our work includes shaping and improving governance practices, supporting effective oversight, developing clear assessments and recommendations, and ensuring that decisions lead to action. We work closely with research, safety, security, legal, and product teams to identify gaps, reconcile different views, and improve our approach as capabilities and circumstances change. About the Role We are looking for a curious, high-agency Research Program Manager who can reason from first principles, make sense of incomplete or conflicting information, and move difficult work forward. You will help shape the substance of governance reviews, connect ideas and evidence across teams, and develop recommendations that are both well-founded and practical. The work requires someone who can use established approaches where they fit, recognize when circumstances call for a different approach, and update their thinking as new evidence emerges. You should bring sound judgment, a willingness to experiment and learn, and the program-management discipline to turn good analysis into action. Depending on your experience and the team’s needs, your work may focus on safety advisory and board-level oversight, deployment governance, or standards and strategic partner commitments. You’ll be a trusted advisor to senior leaders, shaping our compensation philosophy, leveling framework, and equity programs to ensure we remain competitive, principled, and performance-oriented as we scale. This role blends strategy and execution: designing clear, fair systems while moving quickly in a high-growth environment. RESPONSIBILITIES Own and evolve Baseten’s company-wide compensation strategy, philosophy, and programs. Collaborate with leadership and HRBP to create and evolve job architecture and leveling frameworks. Build and maintain compensation bands. Conduct regular market benchmarking to ensure comp bands and strategy remain competitive in a fast moving industry. Partner closely with Talent to design and approve competitive new hire offers, advising on negotiation strategy within our compensation principles. Lead bi-annual leveling and compensation review cycles to ensure market competitiveness and reward high performance across teams. Manage new hire equity grants in partnership with Finance and Legal. About the Role The AI Deployment Manager role is a specialist post-sales enablement role focused on delivering high-impact enablement and adoption services across OpenAI’s product suite. This role is responsible for designing and delivering enablement experiences that support a repeatable adoption framework, driving sustained activation, expanding breadth and depth of usage, and measurable business value across OpenAI’s product suite, including ChatGPT Enterprise and Agents. This role blends strong product fluency, instructional design, and customer advisory. You will lead live workshops, deliver services, and design adoption interventions for audiences ranging from everyday business users to technical practitioners and executive leaders, helping customers understand not just what OpenAI’s products can do, but how to apply them effectively in real world workflows. Success in this role means accelerating customer confidence, increasing product adoption, supporting successful launches of new product capabilities, and helping customers translate product features into tangible outcomes across teams and business functions. You will own outcomes related to activation and sustained usage by shaping how enablement drives measurable customer impact. This role is based in our San Francisco office.
