The Prime team 's mission is to build Bitstamp's prime brokerage for institutional clients — the platform that lets hedge funds, market makers, and professional trading firms onboard, fund, trade, borrow against, and settle positions at scale. We build the systems that move real institutional money: cross-venue settlement, credit against collateral, matched-book lending, and the bridge that brings tokenized securities to our order book — together with the client- and ops-facing surfaces that make them usable, from institutional onboarding and account configuration to reporting and the backoffice tooling our operations run on every day. These are correctness-critical systems where a wrong answer can't be cheaply undone — getting them right is the whole job. As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will own the design and end-to-end delivery of features across that whole surface — from the Prime backend services down to the frontend and backoffice screens that expose them. About the Role As an Applied AI Engineer focused on quantitative investment and trading firms, you will partner directly with researchers, engineers and technical leaders to apply OpenAI’s models and Codex to their research and development workflows. You will combine an understanding of how quants work with hands-on technical skills, helping customers identify valuable opportunities, evaluate approaches and take successful experiments into production. You will work with both practitioners and senior leaders, connecting advances in AI to the problems that matter most to their firms. You will write and debug code, build evaluation systems, resolve complex integrations, and guide decisions involving model behavior, reliability, latency, cost, safety, security, governance, and operational readiness. About the Team The Platform Systems team at OpenAI operates at the intersection of cutting-edge AI and large-scale distributed systems. We build the engineering and research infrastructure required to train OpenAI’s flagship models on some of the world’s largest, custom-built supercomputers. Our team develops core model training software and works deep in the stack - spanning collective communication, compute efficiency, parallelism strategies, fault tolerance, failure detection, and observability. The systems we build are foundational to OpenAI’s research velocity, enabling reliable, efficient training at frontier scale. We collaborate closely with researchers across the organization, continuously incorporating learnings from across OpenAI into the evolution of our training platform. About the Role As a Software Engineer, Platform Systems, you will design and build distributed systems that provide visibility into large-scale training workloads and help operate them reliably at scale. You’ll work on failure detection, tracing, and observability systems that identify slow or faulty nodes, surface performance bottlenecks, and help engineers understand and optimize massive distributed training jobs.
