About the Role We're looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join our Beneficial Deployments, Life Sciences team. Our goal is for Claude to close the loop on scientific discovery, and a significant part of this is helping Claude to drive scientific hardware and software. You'll help deploy the Model Hardware Standard (MHS) to labs doing the world’s most important research. You’ll scale what you learn in the field by contributing back to the standard, building scalable assets, and driving associated internal product and research direction. Responsibilities Work with labs to automate their experiments end-to-end with Claude - from advising, to prototyping, to writing production code. About the Role We're looking for an Applied AI Engineer to join our Beneficial Deployments, Life Sciences team. This is a partner-facing role: you'll support nonprofits, research institutes, academic medical centres and public-sector funders as they use Claude to get treatments to patients with rare and neglected diseases, where there is little or no commercial incentive to fund development. The role focuses on clinical development, where we think Claude can help these partners today. Trials in these diseases have small patient populations, investigator-led or nonprofit funding and little operational support, and they often stall on protocol quality, operational risk and site start-up. Claude can help teams design better trials and start them sooner. Much of this work is drug repurposing: testing new uses for approved, usually off-patent or generic medicines, whose known safety profiles can let a good hypothesis reach patients years sooner than a new molecule. About the role We are looking for research engineers to build the safety and oversight mechanisms that govern how our models handle biological knowledge. As a bio safety researcher, you will spend your time: designing and running capability evaluations against frontier models, generating and curating training data for our safety classifiers, training and iterating on those classifiers alongside our ML engineers, and measuring how they hold up against adversarial pressure in production traffic. This work sits at the intersection of applied ML and biosecurity. You will help define what responsible AI safety looks like in the biological domain, translating threat models into evals, datasets, and deployed systems. The core technical tension you will own is precision: safeguards need to be robust against sophisticated actors while staying out of the way of the far larger population of legitimate researchers using Claude to accelerate life sciences work. Getting that tradeoff right is an empirical problem, and you will be the person measuring it. You do not need to be an ML researcher today. We are looking for strong scientific programmers with real depth in modern biology who want to bring that depth to bear on model evaluation and classifier development. About the Role: As manager of the Healthcare and Life Sciences Solutions Architect team within Applied AI at Anthropic, you will drive the adoption of frontier AI in partnership with the rest of the go to market organization. We work with customers that include companies across payers, providers, life sciences, medtech, and other healthcare verticals. You will be responsible for leading and growing the pre-sales team that partners with account executives to help those companies understand and deploy Anthropic’s products, including Claude Code, Cowork, Claude Science, and the Claude Development Platform (our API). This will include leveraging your technical skills and consultative sales experience to hire great people, establish processes for the team to scale, and represent Anthropic directly at strategic customer engagements. Responsibilities: Hire, manage, and guide a team of pre-sales Solutions Architects by providing both technical guidance and career development. Set goals for your team that establish baseline expectations for performance in collaboration with sales and other cross-functional teams.
