We are seeking an experienced Trading Operations Specialist to assist the company in executing trading strategies and ensuring the effective risk management of trading activities. This role involves overseeing pre-trade, live, and post-trade monitoring, stress testing algorithms, implementing kill functionality, monitoring market abuse, and raising red flags to senior management and compliance as necessary What You’ll Be Doing: Have access to and oversee the implementation of the kill switch to manage and mitigate trading risks promptly Lead a first-line team responsible for owning and managing trading risks, including stress testing algorithms and monitoring trade executions Review and approve new algorithms, parameters, and risk limits before they go live Monitor trades in real-time and review open positions to make informed decisions and adjustments as needed Raise red flags to the CEO, compliance team, and relevant stakeholders for immediate action and resolution Liaise with regulators on compliance matters where necessary Collaborate with the trading desk to ensure smooth and efficient trading operations while adhering to risk management protocols What We Look For In You: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field 5+ years of proven experience in trading operations, risk management, and market surveillance within the financial industry Strong understanding of trading strategies, algorithms, risk metrics, and market dynamics Excellent analytical skills and the ability to assess and manage trading risks in real-time Proficiency in using trading platforms, automated monitoring tools, and risk management software Effective communication and decision-making skills to lead and collaborate Why Should You Join Our Team? Role Overview We are seeking a high-credibility Head of Compliance to lead and oversee our Compliance function for a Malta-based crypto trading business. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring direct engagement experience with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), prior MFSA PQ/approved-role status, and the expertise to navigate the EU regulatory landscape under MiCA. Operating in an agile environment, you will balance strategic advisory with direct execution mentoring a lean team while taking full ownership of regulatory governance and risk remediation. Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Engagement: Lead and oversee all regulatory matters, including audits, exams, onsite inspection, regulatory reporting, ongoing regulatory dialogue with regulatory agencies, including the MFSA, FIAU, and broadly EU agencies where applicable. MiCA & Crypto Oversight: Lead the firm through MiCA licensing and transition processes, ensuring CASP/VFA policies, product features, and operational controls align with EU regulatory standards. Governance & Monitoring: Own and execute the compliance program, board reporting, and internal policy registers. The Compliance Officer is responsible for overseeing and implementing the compliance monitoring plan of the company. Key responsibilities include deploying the plan throughout the calendar year, ensuring adherence to various MiFID requirements, and dedicating 90% of their time to monitoring activities. The Compliance Officer works closely with the company to ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and standards. This role is subject to PQ approval by the MFSA . We are open to candidates who have already gone through this process, as well as to those who haven’t yet, but meet the formal criteria and are open to going through it with our support. The Head of Risk - Malta is responsible to: Risk Management Set up and manage the Risk Management Framework : Establish appropriate risk policies and procedures to minimize the Company’s risks. Recommend updates to the Risk Appetite Statement: Advise the Board of Directors on annual updates and appropriate risk tolerance limits, clearly outlining the level of risk acceptable in line with strategic goals. Maintain a risk register : Systematically record identified risks and mitigation actions.
