Data Engineering Intern — Summer 2027

Our internship program at Sigma: Sigma’s Early Career Program is the launchpad for the next generation of engineers and innovators. As an Intern at Sigma, you’ll work on various production features and learn efficient engineering for large scalable systems. Our interns work directly with our engineers, product leaders, and designers across the organization everyday. We’re looking for students who bring curiosity, a spirit for collaboration, and a desire for shaping the future of business insights and data exploration. Internship Program Qualifications: Current student : Applicants must be currently enrolled in a university undergraduate or graduate degree program in the U.S with a graduation date of December 2027 or later Able to intern from June 2027 through August/early September 2027 (dates flexible) Authorization : You must be legally authorized to work in the US during the Summer 2027 program Visa sponsorship is not available for our internship positions Location: Our remaining internships are in-person and located primarily within San Francisco, CA or New York, NY. Relocation assistance will be provided for students who will need to relocate for the Summer in the form of a relocation bonus. Responsibilities: Partner with Operations, Engineering, Data Science & Analytics, Product, Finance and other cross-functional stakeholders to manage and update key business logic Develop frameworks and scalable processes to streamline reporting, drive decision-making and prioritization Define the metrics used to measure the success of strategic initiatives and system health; build dashboards to monitor metrics performance over time Work closely with cross-functional partners to deliver data quickly, reliably and accurately to our city partners Monitor and diagnose KPI performance and present findings to senior leadership Experience: Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in mathematical sciences (Operations Research, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Theoretical Physics, Behavioral Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.), Economics (Microeconomics Theory, Econometrics etc.), Data Engineering; or a related field;
