The Position: The Ubiquiti Kaunas office is looking for a talented and self-driven embedded C/C++ developer. We expect you to bring your experience, enthusiasm and creativity wherever you go and put them in the work you do. You should be able to think out of the box when finding solutions to brand new problems and make things work when the solution is not straightforward. Responsibilities: Develop embedded Linux firmware for managed Ethernet switches and related networking products; Collaborate with global firmware, hardware, and product teams throughout product design, bring-up, development, and release; Develop and maintain Linux user-space services, management daemons, platform libraries, and hardware abstraction components; Implement and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching functionality, including VLANs, STP/RSTP/MSTP, LACP, LLDP, multicast, and routing features; Integrate switching silicon SDKs, platform components, and third-party open-source software into the firmware; Improve switching performance, reliability, startup time, resource usage, and system observability; Work with hardware engineers on board bring-up, BSP integration, hardware validation, and low-level issue investigation; Diagnose complex control-plane and data-plane issues using logs, packet captures, hardware counters, tracing, and profiling tools

You’ll bring experience, enthusiasm, and creativity to solve brand-new problems, think beyond the obvious, and make things work—even when the solution isn’t straightforward. Responsibilities: Build firmware for new Wi-Fi 6, 6E and WiFi 7 access points and routers; Collaborate with global firmware, hardware, RF, and product teams to deliver cutting-edge wireless networking products; Develop and maintain user-space services and libraries, management daemons, and integrations with hostapd and wpa_supplicant; Integrate third-party components and chipset SDKs into our OpenWrt-based firmware and build systems; Maintain and improve existing product firmware, focusing on stability, performance, security, and maintainability; Work closely with hardware and RF engineers on bring-up, calibration, validation, and issue investigation; Optimize roaming, mesh networking, airtime fairness, OFDMA, MU-MIMO, DFS, automatic channel selection, and QoS/WMM; Diagnose complex laboratory and field issues using logs, packet captures, tracing, and on-device profiling. About the role: You would work on real hardware, not simulators: racks of pre-release APs and switches, RF test equipment, and the automation that gates every release. You will spend your time finding out why a link negotiated at 100M instead of 10G, why a client did not roam cleanly between APs, or why PoE came up wrong after a reboot, and then building the automated test that catches it next time. Responsibilities: Validate WiFi and switching firmware on pre-release hardware in our lab; Build and maintain the automated test suites that gate firmware releases; Investigate failures down to root cause and escalate to firmware owners with evidence; Turn each recurring field issue into permanent regression coverage; Extend our lab tooling and CI pipelines. Requirements: 2+ years of experience with Python; Solid networking fundamentals: VLANs, routing, WiFi, firewalls; Experience with CI (Jenkins or similar) and Linux/Bash; Experience with AI tools - Claude, Codex, etc; Fluent in English and Lithuanian; Based in or willing to relocate to Kaunas, as this role needs hands on hardware!
