Scale AI’s Public Sector business is growing quickly as government agencies adopt AI to support critical national security, defense, and public sector missions. We’re looking for a hands-on Engineering Manager to lead a team of software engineers building core products and infrastructure for these customers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in technical environments, enjoys managing teams while staying close to the code, and wants to work on meaningful problems that impact real world operations across the U.S. government. You’ll play a critical role in delivering backend systems, distributed platforms, and ML tooling used by our public sector partners—all while helping your team grow and execute. You’ll split your time between technical planning and execution (50%) and people management and team development (50%) , leading a team of 6-8 engineers. You’ll work cross-functionally with product, security, and customer-facing teams to ensure our engineering efforts meet complex federal compliance, security, and performance needs. About the Role As a Senior Special Programs Security Manager, you will lead security operations for OpenAI’s Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs (SAP), serving in customer-designated roles such as Contractor Special Security Officer (CSSO) or Contractor Program Security Officer (CPSO). You will help shape how OpenAI operates across the Intelligence Community and other national security environments, building the relationships, processes, and security foundations required to support classified work at scale. The Role We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and collaborative Program Manager to join our Sales Enablement team, embedded in and dedicated to the Public Sector business unit. This role sits at the intersection of GTM strategy and learning design. You will own the end-to-end enablement experience for Public Sector sales reps, from the moment they join Scale to every stage of their ongoing development. The Public Sector GTM team operates as a distinct business with its own sales motion, compliance environment, and buyer context. This role requires someone who can move fluidly between that world and the broader Sales Enablement org; building infrastructure, translating content across BUs, and driving rep readiness in an environment where the stakes are high and the deals are complex. This role would also take ownership of Public Sector BU onboarding for any member joining the team. About the Role Our technologies support some of the most important and impactful work in the world, including our strategic and high-impact customers in the public sector. As a GRC Program Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in achieving US government (USG) ATOs and compliance frameworks, including but not limited to FedRAMP and Department of War (DoW),for OpenAI products and support agency-specific ATOs for systems deployed in highly regulated and secure environments. You’ll work closely with engineers, internal stakeholders, and external assessors to design, document, and implement security controls that meet stringent compliance requirements.
