About the Role We’re looking for a senior communications leader to shape how OpenAI communicates about its emerging ads and monetization business. This person will define the global narrative, lead communications for major product and business milestones, and build sustained programs that explain our approach to ads and monetization clearly and credibly. The role will be central to showing how OpenAI can develop advertising experiences that are useful to people, valuable to businesses, transparent in how they work and consistent with our mission. You will work closely with Product, Go-to-Market, Marketing, Policy, Legal and Partnerships to anticipate opportunities and risks, develop integrated campaigns and help the business scale with trust. You will also serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on positioning, reputation, media strategy and the broader industry conversation. This is both a strategic and hands-on role. The right person will be comfortable defining a long-term communications strategy, building the systems and relationships needed to execute it, and personally leading through high-profile launches and fast-moving issues. This role reports to the VP of Communications and is based in San Francisco, CA. About the Role We’re looking for an internal communications professional to help employees understand the work happening across OpenAI’s research and product organizations. You’ll translate technical developments, product milestones, and team priorities into clear, useful communications that connect people to the work and to one another. Reporting to the Internal Communications lead for Research and Product, you’ll be the second member of the team dedicated to this part of OpenAI. You’ll independently own specific communications programs and projects within the broader strategy, build trusted relationships with technical teams, and identify stories and information employees need to hear. You’ll also help build practical processes that allow a small team to support a broad and fast-moving organization. This role requires strong writing and editing skills, technical curiosity, and sound judgment. You should enjoy asking questions, making sense of complex information, and moving work forward independently, with guidance from your manager on broader strategy and sensitive issues. In this role, you will: Support day-to-day internal communications for the Enterprise & Growth portfolio, including product, partnership, leadership, and organizational announcements. Help plan and execute internal events for supported executives and teams, including org-wide All Hands, managers meetings, Q&As, leadership AMAs, employee engagement moments, and launch-related gatherings. Support logistics and execution for company-wide customer storytelling programs, bringing customer insights, examples, and impact stories to employees. Monitor high-traffic Slack channels and other employee feedback signals across supported teams to identify emerging questions, information gaps, and opportunities to improve clarity or connection. Maintain intake and calendar, tracking key moments, milestones, dependencies, audiences, and review timelines.
