The Election Analytics team produces flagship, standard-setting elections coverage, including the live, election night statistical model known as the Needle and The New York Times/Siena Poll. The department is looking to hire an experienced data developer to contribute to data creation, management and architecture across our products. Underneath our poll and the Needle are massive amounts of data. This includes the voter file, as well as demographics for different localities, hundreds of scrapers collecting precinct data and countless pipelines for processing and cleaning data. Our understanding of the electorate is only as good as the data we have access to, including the data we create to test our systems and the election night model itself. You will have a central role in creating and cleaning these data sources for use in our products. You will help knit together data from different sections of the team to build our understanding of what may happen on election night throughout the year. And you will ensure we have proper observability into how data is being used. Election Analytics is a multidisciplinary team of reporters, developers, statisticians and modelers who work on written coverage, graphics, our polls and the election-night model. T Magazine is looking for a temporary deputy photo director with experience in print and digital storytelling. You will assign photography covering a wide array of subject matter and photographic genres including fashion, portraits, interiors, travel and still lifes. You have experience producing editorial photoshoots involving studios, set builds, hair and makeup, location scouting, casting, and wardrobe. You have strong knowledge of photographers around the world. This is a temporary in-office position based in New York and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance. Responsibilities : In partnership with the Director of Photography, produce photo shoots for all sections of the magazine and website including fashion, interiors, travel and still lifes. Source freelance photographers, producers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, set builders, prop designers, location scouts, casting agents, animal handlers, and fabricators for photo shoots. Handle several projects simultaneously that span the areas of fashion, travel, still life, interiors, portraits, and special packages. Manage photo editors working in photo research, art commissions and digital shoots. Maintain budgets and contracts for photo shoots; process and approve invoices for photo shoots in a timely manner. The Washington bureau is seeking a temporary senior staff editor to work on editing Washington news, including stories on the White House, Congress, the military, intelligence agencies, the Justice Department, the State Department, the Supreme Court, health care, economics and more. You will work on a mix of daily and enterprise stories as well as breaking news and live coverage during weekday evenings, picking up from the dayside team and working alongside other editors in the Washington bureau and on the Live team in New York, as needed. You will also monitor news developments, consult with the Washington Night Editor and bureau leadership about priorities, do first and second reads and make judgments on the length, placement and framing of stories and, at times, assign stories to reporters. You will need to have familiarity with a wide variety of topics, versatility, speed, proven judgment and the ability to collaborate across desks and platforms.
