About the Role: As a Payroll Analyst on our Accounting team, you’ll manage accurate, on-time U.S. payrolls and provide operational coverage for the payroll team. In this role, you’ll help keep a fast-growing workforce compliant and dependable while improving the systems and workflows that make payroll seamless for employees. You’ll partner closely with the Accounting, People Ops, and Benefits teams to refine existing processes and systems in a fast-changing environment. Expect hands-on processing, ongoing improvements, and accountability for precision and employee trust. This role can be based in either San Francisco or New York City. We work from our offices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (our Anchor Days) because we do our best thinking and building together in person. In this role, you will play a critical part in executing accurate, compliant, and timely semi-monthly payroll operations across multi-state US jurisdictions for over 5,000+ employees, with opportunities to support broader AMER entities (e.g., Canada, Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay). As a subject matter expert in payroll processing, multi-state tax compliance, and benefit/equity reconciliations, you will drive operational excellence, implement workflow automations, and deliver white-glove support to our growing employee base. What You’ll Do (Key Responsibilities) End-to-End Payroll Operations: Own and execute complex bi-weekly multi-state US payroll cycles, ensuring accurate calculations for base salary, variable compensation (sales commissions, bonuses), retro adjustments, and termination payouts. About the Role As a Senior Analyst, Travel & Expense, you will run the day-to-day financial controls, audit program, and executive reporting behind Anthropic's T&E function. Investigate rep questions, document what you find, recommend fixes, and clear issues quickly so reps trust their payouts. Work with Salesforce and data owners to keep source data clean, map new fields and deal types, and find upstream problems before they turn into payout errors. Reconcile and audit payouts against payroll, bookings and plan terms every cycle. Model the cost and payout impact of proposed plan changes and set up new plans in the system.
