Security Scientist

About the AI Security Institute The AI Security Institute is the world's largest and best-funded team dedicated to understanding advanced AI risks and translating that knowledge into action. We’re in the heart of the UK government with direct lines to No. 10 (the Prime Minister's office), and we work with frontier developers and governments globally. We’re here because governments are critical for advanced AI going well, and UK AISI is uniquely positioned to mobilise them. With our resources, unique agility and international influence, this is the best place to shape both AI development and government action. The deadline for applying to this role is 18th October 2026, end of day, anywhere on Earth. Team Description Risks from misaligned AI systems are growing increasingly important as AI systems become more capable, autonomous, and integrated into society. Understanding these risks and stress-testing mitigations is crucial to ensuring advanced AI systems are developed and deployed safely and beneficially in the future. The Alignment Red Team is a specialised subteam within AISI's wider Red Team focused on detecting and evaluating misalignment in frontier AI systems. We perform novel research to develop techniques for finding misalignment, and pre- and post-deployment evaluations of frontier AI systems to understand loss-of-control risks associated with models, such as deceptive alignment, research sabotage, and reward-seeking. We share our findings with frontier AI companies and the UK and allied governments, to inform their respective deployments, research, and policy-making. We also work directly with safety teams at frontier labs, sharing our evaluation findings to help improve their model alignment training and monitoring methodology. We have conducted pre-deployment testing with multiple frontier AI companies for propensities related to research sabotage , cheating and unsanctioned cyber-attacks . We previously found t

We’re training and deploying frontier models for enterprises who are building AI systems. We believe that our work is instrumental to the widespread adoption of AI and we are looking for folks that want to be part of that. We obsess over what we build. Each one of us is responsible for contributing to increasing the capabilities of our models and the value they drive for our customers. Cohere is a team of researchers, engineers, designers, and more, who are all passionate about their craft. We are a global technology company headquartered in Toronto with key offices in London, New York City, San Francisco, Montreal, Paris, Berlin and Seoul. Join us! Why this role? We're building the foundational infrastructure that will define how the world thinks about and deploys AI, and we want the sharpest, most curious people to help us do it. As a Data Scientist on our Analytics and Data Insights team, you'll work on problems that don't have textbook answers yet; building the analytics that shape product and company strategy, designing the experiments that prove or kill our biggest bets, and helping enterprise customers understand what foundational AI actually means for their bottom line. You'll own analytical work end-to-end: from framing the right questions and building the models to shipping insights, tools, and results that product leaders, sales teams, and enterprise customers rely on. As a Data Scientist, you will: Drive the mission forward. Build bleeding-edge agentic analytics: Agentic analytics is far from a solved problem, and we want to be the company that solves it. We need the sharpest minds with the curiosity, drive, and focus required to build the tools necessary to bring order and clarity to real world data. Define AI impact measurement: own the end-to-end analytics st

As a Lead Data Scientist on our Analytics and Data Insights team, you'll tackle problems that don't have textbook answers yet; shaping go-to-market strategy for technology that's still being invented, designing the experiments that prove or kill our biggest bets, and helping enterprises understand what foundational AI actually means for their bottom line. You'll own the full analytical lifecycle, from framing the right questions and building the models, to leading a team that delivers answers leadership can act on. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will: Drive the mission forward. Own the science: design and lead experimentation programs including A/B tests, multi-armed bandits, causal inference studies, that directly map to product and go-to-market decisions. Role Overview: Evaluation is critical to making progress in scaling intelligence. As models continue to become superhuman in many real-world use cases, we must continue to develop new evaluation techniques that accurately reflect what models are already capable of, as well as set the agenda for what future models should be capable of. In this role, you are responsible for creating these next-generation evaluation methods and infrastructure to measure LLM progress. Key Responsibilities: Create ambitious new evaluation benchmarks that push the limits of what our models can accomplish. Work on highly cross-functional teams to translate model feedback into trustworthy, repeatable evaluations. Conduct research to advance the state-of-the-art in LLM evaluation methods, including training LLM judges; refining LLM-based data synthesis pipelines; and improving evaluation efficiency. Build scalable and reusable tools for digging into model performance. Qualifications: You enjoy rapidly building prototypes that demonstrate the boundaries of what LLMs are capable of, and you have developed resources to measure those capabilities. You have s

The Behavior AI team builds the AI-based anomaly detection behind Datadog's security products. Our models learn what normal looks like across the billions of logs, events, and telemetry records flowing through the platform every second, and they flag the behavior that does not fit, on every record, in real time, at a cost that makes sense at our scale. What we build does not ship to a single feature. The same models power detection across many of Datadog's security products at once, so the work has impact well beyond any one team. Large general-purpose models are too slow and too expensive to run in that path, so we take the opposite approach: small, custom models, designed for high-throughput stream processing and optimized to run cheaply on every record. We are hiring a Senior Applied Scientist to build these models from start to finish. You will contribute to designing the architecture, training at scale, and the optimization work that takes a model from training to running efficiently on production traffic. This optimization requires a deep understanding of the constraints imposed by both the software and the hardware, together with the applied mathematics to work within them: often it comes down to finding a mathematical reformulation that fits those constraints better, and that judgment can decide whether a model reaches production at all. The work involves a number of open questions. How do you obtain most of the quality of a large model from one that is far smaller and cheap enough to run on the full stream? Where is it worth trading exactness for speed, and how do you reason about the error you accept? How do you make a small model's outputs clear enough that the detection engineers and analysts who rely on it can trust what it reports? If these are the problems you want to work on, we would like to hear from you. At Datadog, we place value in our office culture: the relationships and collaboration it builds, and the creativity it bring
