Overview We are hiring for a Senior Fraud & Risk Engineer to join our team! You will own and build the risk infrastructure that powers our payments platform. This is a highly strategic and hands-on role where you will design, implement, and scale our fraud detection systems across a diverse and growing portfolio of merchants. You’ll work across best-in-class tools like Sift and Sardine to create a multi-merchant risk engine that balances approval rates with fraud prevention. From rules architecture to model tuning and chargeback analysis, you’ll be responsible for driving measurable improvements in fraud performance. This role is ideal for someone who has built or operated fraud systems in payments or marketplaces, thrives in high-ownership environments, and wants to shape risk as a core product function at a fast-growing fintech company. The Opportunity We’ve built out a best-in-class data asset and AI tools about businesses in the US. We are continually expanding our data coverage to ensure our product is a one-stop-shop for KYB, onboarding, assessing fraud risk, creating and managing sales/marketing campaigns to US businesses. We need to ensure we are constantly keeping an eye out for new data sources that will enhance our product, as well as ensuring every data partnership we use today continues to add value. What You'll Do We’re looking for someone who will anticipate Enigma’s data needs based on the company strategy and near term goals. You’ll source new data partners to strengthen Enigma’s data assets and overall product, both opportunistically and as requested by internal product and engineering teams. You’ll be responsible for the management and ongoing growth of our internal source of truth data. You’ll also be responsible for evaluating the data quality of new partners’ data and owning the integration of that data. You’ll manage relationships with data partners - all the way from sourcing data, negotiating contracts and managing data budgets to assessing data partner performance and negotiating renewals. You’ll collaborate with Legal, Finance, Product and Engineering. This is a role with a high-level of accountability. You will need to anticipate the data needs of internal teams well before they need the data to make sure they are not blocked. You’ll need to drive forward conversations and evaluations with data partners, even when these are not high priority in the near term for other stakeholders. About the Role Ramp's Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) team is looking for a senior investigator ready to shift from running cases to scaling the systems that run cases. You've built real depth in TM Alerts, AML Investigations, Complex Fraud, and EDD Reviews; you know what a good escalation looks like, where analysts get stuck, and where automation actually holds up in production versus just looks good in a demo. In this role, you'll spend most of your time partnering with Engineering and the Head of FCC Tooling to turn that judgment into scaled AI systems: testing model outputs, labeling and calibrating results, and making sure every automated decision point is well-documented and properly governed. You'll stay close enough to FCC's day-to-day workflows and will partake in some of them, but this is fundamentally a builder role.
