Senior Software Engineer - Cortex AI Infrastructure

At Snowflake, we are powering the era of the agentic enterprise. To usher in this new era, we seek AI-native thinkers across every function who are energized by the opportunity to reinvent how they work. You don’t just use tools; you possess an innate curiosity, treating AI as a high-trust collaborator that is core to how you solve problems and accelerate your impact. We look for low-ego individuals who thrive in dynamic and fast-moving environments and move with an experimental mindset — who rapidly test emerging capabilities to discover simpler, more powerful ways to deliver results. At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. The Cortex Apps team is building the future of AI for enterprise data. This role focuses on the backend infrastructure that powers our flagship products like Snowflake Intelligence , Cortex Agents and Search making agentic AI fast, reliable, scalable and secure at the enterprise level. You won’t just be using AI tools; you will be building the high-performance systems that orchestrate them. You’ll own and influence the architecture for agent execution environments, high-throughput context retrieval, or the ecosystem that allows our customers to iterate and launch agents in production. What you will do in this role: Architect Agentic Runtimes: Build and scale the orchestration engines that execute complex agentic workflows, ensuring low-latency tool execution and robust state management. Scale Context Engineering Infra: Design high-performance systems for RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), including vector database integration, scalable and efficient search indexing, query processing, and result ranking, semantic caching, and automated metadata extraction. Build the "Evals Engine": Develop the automated infrastructure required to run massive-scale golden set simulations, error analysis pipelines, and "hillclimbing" experiments. Productionize AI Workflows: Collaborate with

At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. The Billing & Payments Platform team builds Snowflake's central data repository and infrastructure for customer resource consumption, revenue processing, invoicing, and reporting. Our systems power Snowflake's business and enable every other engineering team — and the architectures we ship double as reference patterns for our customers building on Snowflake. Computing Snowflake's bills, at its core, is a challenging distributed systems problem: real-time usage metering across every cloud and region, and supporting an ever-evolving catalog of pricing models — including the new commercial constructs we are inventing for Cortex AI, Snowflake Intelligence, and the broader agentic AI portfolio . Our applications must meet strict requirements for accuracy, auditability, and low-latency processing. This is a deeply cross-functional role. You will partner daily with Product, Finance, Legal, Growth, Go-to-Market Systems, Snowsight UI, Cortex AI, and product engineering teams across Snowflake to deliver experiences that customers and internal stakeholders depend on every day. What You'll Do As a Senior Software Engineer on Billing Platform, you will: Own medium-sized projects end-to-end — from design through launch and operation — and contribute as a key engineer on large, multi-

At Snowflake, your role isn't just to execute a function, but to help redefine the future of how work gets done. Cortex Code is Snowflake’s coding agent for building with data. It ships inside the platform that thousands of the world’s largest enterprises — including a large share of the Forbes Global 2000 — run their data on, which means the quality of this agent is felt by the data teams behind a meaningful slice of the global economy. We are taking coding agents from impressive demos to tools Data Science and Engineering teams depend on every day, and we hold them to a rigorous, public bar. See our data engineering agent benchmark . About the Role This is a measurement-first role that owns the quality and efficiency of Cortex Code end to end: how good the agent is, how much it costs to run, and how reliably it behaves in production. You will take agents from research capability to real, measurable user value — turning fuzzy “the agent feels worse” signals into hard metrics, running the experiments that move them, and shipping the changes that stick. You will work on a small, high-powered modeling and infrastructure team where your work reaches every developer building on Snowflake. What you will do in this role Take agents from prototype to production: design and refine agent behaviors for real coding and data-engineering workflows, and make them reliable enough to depend on.
