Senior Software Engineer, Foundational Storage

P-78 At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world's toughest problems — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world's best Data Intelligence Platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Founded by engineers — and customer obsessed — we leap at every opportunity to tackle technical challenges, from designing next-gen UI/UX for interfacing with data to scaling our services and infrastructure across millions of virtual machines. And we're only getting started. The filesystem has emerged as the preferred runtime interface for agentic AI. AI agents use the filesystem for context, memory management, artifact (dashboard, code etc) authoring, version control, sandboxing, and interacting between systems and agents. It is the foundational layer to accelerate AI adoption As a Senior Software Engineer on the Files team, you will innovate at the intersection of storage, performance, and distributed systems, directly shaping our filesystem strategy to power next-generation agentic workloads. We partner closely with product, data, and ML to deliver high‑scale, low‑latency systems with clear SLOs and great developer ergonomics. We organize around four focus areas: Core Infra: The foundational cloud stack—networking, compute, storage, security, and infrastructure‑as‑code—to ensure reliability, scale, and cost efficiency. Data Infra: Streaming/batch data platforms powering analytics/BI and customer‑facing telemetry, including for customer‑managed and on‑prem environments. ML Infra: GPU and model‑serving platforms for LLM inference with multi‑provider routing and support for on‑prem/air‑gapped deployments. Platform (DevEx): CI/CD, paved paths, and core services that make shipping fast, safe, and consistent across teams. Our mission is to deliver magical support experiences — AI agents working alongside humans to resolve issues

About Sentry Software runs the world and the pace is faster than ever. Sentry helps developers fix errors and performance issues before users notice, so teams can spend less time firefighting and more time building. Trusted by 200,000+ organizations, Sentry is today’s application monitoring standard and our team is building its AI-native future. About the Role A strong and reliable platform is essential to scaling Sentry for the future. Our Platform organization is responsible for everything that powers Sentry, from cloud infrastructure and streaming systems to storage, deployment, and security. We own the core services and technical foundations that enable every product and engineering team at Sentry to move fast and build with confidence. We’re looking for a Senior Staff Software Engineer to set technical direction across Sentry’s Platform organization and lead engineering work spanning infrastructure, streaming, and storage. Reporting directly to the VP of Platform Engineering , you’ll partner with engineering and product leaders to identify where our platform needs to evolve, make architectural decisions across team boundaries, and lead those changes through production delivery. You’ll stay hands-on through system design, prototyping, and code while helping senior and staff engineers lead work across teams. What You’ll Do Set technical direction for platform initiatives spanning multiple teams, connecting architectural decisions to product needs and business priorities. Identify and lead changes addressing system bottlenecks, reliability risks, and architectural constraints. Own cross-team initiatives from problem definition and design through implementation, rollout, and evaluation. Make tradeoffs across reliability, performance, cost, operational complexity, and delivery speed. Stay hands-on where your contribution matters most, writing code, building prototypes, and helping teams resolve difficult implementation problems. Partner with engineering and product
