The Codex Applied AI Engineering team focuses on helping organizations transform how software is built with AI. We partner directly with engineering teams and technical leaders to integrate Codex into their software development lifecycle — from identifying high-impact use cases and designing AI-enabled workflows to implementation, evaluation, and scaled adoption. Our work helps ensure AI-powered software development is effective, reliable, secure, and deeply integrated into how engineering organizations operate. About the Role We are seeking an experienced technical leader to join as Manager, Applied AI Engineering (Codex) , leading a team of Applied AI Engineers responsible for driving successful Codex adoption across strategic customers. Your team will work hands-on with customer engineering organizations to design and build AI-enabled development workflows, solve complex implementation challenges, and establish scalable patterns for AI-powered software development. As a manager, you will shape how these technical engagements operate at scale — setting strategy, coaching engineers, determining where the team can have the greatest impact, and ensuring consistently strong execution across customers. You will serve as both a people leader and senior technical advisor, partnering closely with Sales, Product, Research, and Engineering to translate customer needs and real-world usage into better technical approaches, reusable patterns, and product insights. About the Role As the Manager of Applied AI Architects in Munich, you will lead a team of senior technical leaders responsible for the technical strategy, customer journey, and path to production value for OpenAI's Digital Native customers across the DACH region. Your team will act as the “CTO of the book of business,” partnering with customer executives and technical teams from pre-sales discovery and solution evaluation through deployment, adoption, and measurable business impact. You will set the operating model for how Applied AI Architects own technical account plans across ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI API, Codex, and other agentic AI solutions. In close partnership with Sales leadership and Account Directors, you will help prioritize customer portfolios, allocate technical resources, and ensure business priorities translate into focused use cases, credible architectures, actionable adoption roadmaps, and durable customer value and growth. You will remain accountable for the team's technical outcomes while developing its people and bringing in the right specialists across deployment, implementation, enablement, security, product, research, and partners. You will serve as an executive technical sponsor for critical engagements, a senior voice of the customer inside OpenAI, and a cross-functional leader who can move confidently between regional strategy, executive decision-making, architectural depth, and hands-on coaching.

You will own the technical account plan across ChatGPT Enterprise, the OpenAI API, Codex, and other agentic AI solutions. In partnership with the Account Director, you will translate business priorities into a focused use-case portfolio, an actionable adoption roadmap, and a clear path to durable customer value and growth. The Account Director owns commercial strategy; you own the technical strategy, customer journey, and path to production value. You will remain accountable for the technical outcome while bringing in the right specialists across deployment, implementation, enablement, security, product, and partners to provide deeper expertise and execute work where needed.
