The Opportunity at Altana We're looking for a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the AI behind Altana Nexus, our agentic platform for global trade. You'll work on a continuous stream of public and proprietary trade data (shipments, customs filings, trade documents), and build the models and AI agents that turn it into real-time decisions on risk, compliance and enforcement for governments and the world's largest companies. Your Responsibilities Drive the technical direction for agentic systems. Define the architecture and roadmap for the models and agentic systems that process trade data as it arrives (shipments, customs declarations, invoices, bills of lading) and turn it into risk, classification and compliance decisions in real time. Build the pipeline from ingestion to decision. Lead the design of reliable, cost-efficient systems for ingestion, document understanding, entity resolution, inference and routing across models, at the scale of global trade. Adapt models to trade. Use analyst feedback, production outcomes and agent traces to fine-tune and post-train models (SFT, DPO, RL with domain graders) where it measurably beats prompting, and keep every model improving over time. Design the observability and feedback stack. Build the evals, tracing and feedback loops that decide what ships and catch regressions in production. Lead beyond your team. Mentor senior engineers, raise the technical bar across Engineering, and help shape how we hire and level ML talent. Shape the product and the business. As Strategic Sourcing Manager of Direct Procurement, you will be responsible for Zoox’s strategic sourcing and industry partnerships, which includes working cross-functionally to understand needs for third-party engagement across the business, finding and evaluating potential partners and suppliers, drafting and issuing RFQs, leading the negotiation of all key terms and conditions as well as pricing, managing commercial and supply chain issues, identifying and executing on cost reduction opportunities, and overall management of third party relationships. You can operate independently and possess expertise in electronics, powertrain, chassis, body, safety systems, EV charging, fleet maintenance or capital equipment. In this role, you will: Lead procurement and partnership initiatives for vehicle direct materials (interiors, structural components, advanced hardware) and/or operations infrastructure (EV charging, vehicle maintenance, capital equipment) Proactively engage with Zoox stakeholders (incl. engineering, operations, manufacturing, strategy, finance, and design) to derive and execute the medium-term (3-5 years) business and technology roadmap to support Zoox’s vehicle development program and autonomous ride-hailing service Develop the supply chain and partnership footprint with a long-term, strategic view Lead the day-to-day process of ensuring successful partnerships (milestone adherence, change order management, quality assurance, cost control, etc.) and build supplier performance assessments to support future sourcing decisions Design, conduct, and synthesize supplier, industry, and market research Drive cost transparency and build total cost of ownership models to support sourcing decisions Ensure optimal contract coverage for the commodity/service in partnership with engineering and legal support Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers as the lead point

In order to ensure safe operation, low latency and consistent resource utilization are critical. The Planner Compute team is responsible for the performance of the largest single software component within the autonomy stack, the motion planner. The Planner Compute team is looking for an expert in GPU performance. You will instrument, monitor, analyze and optimize GPU-based algorithms that are performance-critical for our solution. The scope for GPU usage ranges from machine learning inference to custom CUDA kernels written specifically for the motion planner. In this role, you will: Analyze performance metrics to identify GPU hotspots and optimizations Contribute to the adaptation of our current planner to multiple GPU architectures with different resources Optimize ML models for latency and GPU memory usage Support engineers within Planner as a subject matter expert on CUDA & GPU performance Qualifications BS in computer science or related field and 8+ years of experience.
