We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join the Auth0 Security Engineering organization. You'll help build and maintain the security guardrails for our multi-cloud environment, implementing security and compliance standards as programmatic, code-driven policies. What You Will Do Cloud Security Controls: Implement and maintain organization-wide controls (SCPs, Azure Policy) balancing protection with developer experience. Identity & Access Management (IAM): Build and update templates and permission boundaries that govern how services and humans interact with our cloud, applying the principle of least privilege. Infrastructure & Network Security: Contribute to the security standards for VPC architecture, edge networking, and cross-account connectivity. System Design: Help build systems and processes that validate the security posture of the platform, enforcing our security policies and surfacing actionable feedback for engineering teams. Growth & Collaboration: Partner with teammates across the organization, share what you learn, and continually deepen your security expertise. What You Bring Cloud & Infrastructure Experience: 3+ years of experience in software engineering or information security, with hands-on exposure to cloud-native environments, Kubernetes (EKS, AKS), and cloud security concepts. The Team The Auth0 Platform Tools team owns the incident management tooling, Slack-based tooling, StatusPage, and local development environments that Auth0 engineers rely on every day. That includes incident.io and the services we have built around it, Statuspage, custom Slack bot applications that automate our incident response and engineering operations workflows, the customer-facing web application behind status.auth0.com, Vivaldi, and Tilt - the tools engineers use to run Auth0 locally. We are seeking an engineer to help build new features across all of these tools. Our stack is primarily TypeScript and Node.js, with a React and Next.js front end, backed by Postgres and Redis, and deployed on Kubernetes on AWS. A significant portion of our incident and engineering operations automation is built on Tines, a no-code automation platform. Prior no-code experience is welcome, but we expect you to learn Tines here and become effective with it. Current initiatives include extending our incident tooling to meet FedRAMP requirements, taking full ownership of the status page, and improving how we communicate incident status to customers. There is real room to improve along the way, from test coverage to resilience to inherited technical debt. The End User Protection Team Auth0 is an easy-to-implement authentication and authorization platform designed by developers for developers. We ensure access to applications is safe, secure, and seamless for the more than 100 million daily logins worldwide. Our modern approach to identity enables this Tier-0 global service to deliver convenience, privacy, and security, allowing customers to focus on innovation. The End User Protection team is responsible for building and maintaining Auth0’s Attack Protection capabilities. Cyberattacks, such as credential stuffing and password spraying, often target end users to gain unauthorised access to applications. These attacks pose a significant threat, compromising user accounts and data. The Attack Protection features mitigate these risks by continuously monitoring user login behaviour and automatically detecting and blocking malicious activity. They protect users without adding unnecessary friction. The team works closely with our Machine Learning and AI teams to develop and deploy cutting-edge detection models.
