Software Engineer - Reliability (US Citizen)

About Team & About Role The Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team at Rubrik ensures the absolute reliability, availability, performance, and security of our enterprise infrastructure services, spanning both global SaaS platforms and government-compliant environments. We operate at the intersection of software development and systems engineering, prioritizing hyperscale platform automation, self-healing architectures, and structural resiliency. As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will serve as a primary technical leader and architect across our broader distributed cloud systems. You will drive long-term technical roadmaps, establish cross-organizational reliability standards, and solve complex distributed systems challenges that safeguard both enterprise and public sector environments. Beyond the core SRE charter, this Staff role also leads the Application-SRE team — a US-based group that partners closely with engineering, Sales, and Support to unblock POCs, drive complex customer escalations to resolution, and convert recurring field signals into engineering and reliability roadmap items. You will be the technical leader and project owner for Application-SRE: setting direction, tracking commitments, and ensuring the team operates as a high-leverage bridge between the field and the broader engineering org. What You'll Do As a Staff Site Reliability Engineer, you will possess engineering-wide influence and take ownership of the following critical areas: Infrastructure Strategy & Architecture: Formulate and execute the architectural vision for Rubrik's Cloud Platform, optimizing backend infrastructure systems like Kubernetes, MySQL, and cloud-native services for performance, security, and multi-region scale. Hyperscale Automation & Platform Tooling: Build, scale, and maintain sophisticated custom internal tools, platform controllers, and automation frameworks in Go or Python to systematically eliminate operational toil. About Team Rubrik Atlas is the core data path for all Rubrik products, whether in the data center, at the edge, or in the cloud. It is a distributed, scale-out, fault tolerant, performant, deduplicated user-space filesystem that uniquely combines block device (ext4/NFS/SMB) and S3 backend storage interfaces. It has been the cornerstone of Rubrik’s innovative tech stack since Day 1. Since inception this team has attracted some of our strongest technical talent with a very high bar for quality and velocity. We are looking for motivated engineers, who can complement this rockstar team! About Role Rubrik is expanding at a rapid pace in all directions, from supporting various applications (like Kubernetes, Oracle, EC2, and RDS protection) to hardware storage platforms (like SSD, HDD, S3, Azure Blob, and EBS), to revolutionizing cloud protection (such as SaaS protection, data security, and immutability). At the heart of this transformation is our Atlas platform. We are looking for an experienced distributed systems engineer to guide us through the next stage of the evolution of our data platform. As an engineer in the team, you’ll design, develop and deliver cutting-edge solutions for the tectonic shifts mentioned above. You will be responsible for outlining the architectural principles we should build towards, prototyping changes, and working with the team to realize the vision in a production-quality system. Your technical direction will also impact multiple teams across Rubrik, as we will need to guide them on how to best build on top of Atlas. There will be a wide range of features to work on, including cloud storage-backed file systems with effective cost analysis, building data formats optimized for read and write performance for all workloads, deduplication and compression, reliability, resiliency, infinite scalability, performance tooling using eBPF, asynchronous programming, various read-ahead techniques, snapshotting, data integrity, data security, data i

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today, SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of making life multiplanetary and expanding consciousness to the stars. SpaceXSI is building Super Intelligence to help humanity understand the universe. Our teams are building the full Super Intelligence stack: from our Colossus supercomputers, to Grok models, to our suite of applications, including Grok Bot, Grok Build, Grok Imagine, Grok Voice, and X. We're creating a powerful flywheel where more compute trains better models, better models power more useful products, and what we learn from people using those products shapes what we build next. ABOUT THE ROLE: We’re looking for exceptional storage & database engineers who want to join us on a new project to deeply integrate SpaceXSI's advanced AI infrastructure into a platform used by around 600 million users every month. We’re building a new storage tier that powers training, inference, recommendations, and real-time data extraction. We build and operate: An exabyte-scale S3-compatible object store A multi-tenant transactional key/value store that serves 100s of millions requests per second A caching tier that serves billions of requests per second A scalable vector database that powers our recommendation systems A few other specialized databases serving hundreds of millions requests per second RESPONSIBILITIES: Design, build, and launch to production new features and improvements aimed at unifying common components across the storage systems Dive into performance issues and work with customers and deliver solutions to cater to customers’ latency, availability and data durability requirements. Lead and drive incident responses and recovery with your peers. Review and contribute to incident postmortems and hold a high bar for the same. Work

About the Role: We are building the high-performance inference platform that serves Grok to millions of users every day with lightning speed and perfect reliability. As a Member of Technical Staff - Inference, you will design and optimize large-scale model serving systems end-to-end. You will own everything from distributed infrastructure (global KV cache, continuous batching, load balancing, auto-scaling) to deep low-level optimizations (GPU kernels, quantization, speculative decoding, tail latency). This is a high-impact role where your work directly determines how fast and reliably users interact with Grok at massive scale Responsibilities: Architect and implement scalable distributed infrastructure for model serving (load balancing, auto-scaling, batch scheduling, global KV cache). Optimize latency and throughput of model inference under real production workloads. Build reliable, high-concurrency serving systems that serve billions of users with 100% uptime, 0% error rate, and excellent tail latency. Benchmark, fine-tune, and accelerate inference engines (including low-level GPU kernel work and code generation). Develop custom tools to trace, replay, and fix issues acr
