Our Mapping team is responsible for building the algorithms and tools necessary to keep Zoox vehicles well calibrated, always aware of their location in the world, and aware of their environment. Without precise calibration, localization, and mapping, our vehicles would be at a disadvantage in perceiving and reasoning about the surrounding world, and this is therefore foundational to enabling results from many other teams across Zoox. This work is critical to scaling autonomous driving safely and reliably. We are looking for engineers who are ambitious and excited about helping Zoox achieve its goals of delivering autonomous mobility. The Road Network Interface team owns road network data definition and data products for all consumers, including developer workflows, in-cluster training jobs, and on-vehicle real-time access. We are seeking a Software Engineer to develop the geometry algorithms behind these data products and the interfaces consumers use to access them - including network topology, road network data format, and validation. In this role, you will... Develop and maintain the geometry algorithms that power our map data interfaces. Implement and maintain key parts of our mapping data format, validation frameworks, post-processing pipelines, and interfaces consumed by downstream customers. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Zoox to ship features and grow the APIs that downstream consumers depend on. Create design documentation, test plans, and other supporting artifacts for the work you ship. The Mapping Web team builds the geospatial visualization tools that enable Zoox engineers to understand and reason about the robot’s world. The team develops internal map visualization libraries that power rendering across a wide range of applications. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own and advance these core libraries. This person will extend rendering capabilities, strengthen the underlying architecture, and create scalable foundations that other engineering teams can build upon. Deep, hands-on experience with map and geospatial visualization is required for this role. In this role, you will: Own and extend our deck.gl-based map visualization library. Design and deliver new 2D and 3D rendering capabilities for geospatial data, road networks, lane geometry, and our proprietary road network structures. Partner with teams such as Cartography and Simulation to translate their visualization needs into scalable features. Improve rendering performance for large, complex map datasets. Elevate code quality, documentation, and test coverage while mentoring engineers on geospatial rendering and React/deck.gl patterns. The Software Systems Infrastructure team is responsible for aiding the Software Systems organization with all its internal tooling needs, development processes and ensuring that all safety-critical software meets a high safety bar for production vehicles. We are a fullstack high-paced software engineering team. In this role, you will help establish infrastructure, design and develop software tools that will automate, track or audit processes and methods needed to build safety-critical software that will revolutionize transportation in the 21st century. Borrowing principles from avionics, automotive, and other safety-critical industries, you will work with software, systems and firmware engineers across the Zoox software organization, ranging from state-of-the-art AI Perception, all the way to highly-critical RTOS and middleware components. The Core Data Science team builds the products and data assets that let teams across Zoox measure and improve the autonomy and operational performance of our fleet. In this role, you'll focus on fleet simulation — the environment our data teams use to develop, test, and evaluate the algorithms that orchestrate our autonomous fleet (dispatch, routing, and vehicle assignment) and to understand how those algorithms perform before they reach the road. You’ll piece together the constituent components into a coherent, easy-to-use simulation environment, filling in the gaps, and building generalizable mechanisms so data scientists can measure their algorithm's impact on fleet efficiency. You'll join a diverse, experienced team with rapidly growing scope while working with one of the industry's most valuable autonomous vehicle datasets. On the Motion Planning team at Zoox, you’ll be dedicated to improving the driving behaviors of the robot on public roads. The Planner's job is to figure out where the robot is going and how to get there safely in situations as complex as those found in Downtown San Francisco or on the Las Vegas Strip. This is a cutting-edge problem, which requires teamwork and collaboration across a broad set of experts spanning Planner, Perception, Prediction, Operations, and more. Together, you will create the next generation of algorithmic improvements to expand our robot’s ability to drive in some of the most complex situations found on public roads. Safety is foundational at Zoox, so you will take a measured approach – develop a principled modification to the Planner, test in simulation and on closed courses, and team up with our safety drivers for on-road testing.
