This is a fully remote role open to candidates across the United States. As Snowflake scales globally, we are investing heavily in AI-powered threat detection and response to protect our customers and our environment at cloud scale. This role helps enhance and extend the reach of Snowflake's Threat Detection Program, with AI and automation as core primitives in how we detect, triage, and respond to threats. You will combine deep security expertise with strong engineering skills to build, maintain, and evolve detections and the pipelines that support them, partnering with stakeholders across Security and Engineering to make informed, data-driven decisions grounded in threat models, proactive threat hunts, and exploration of logs and telemetry. What you’ll do You will lead and continuously improve Affirm's enterprise AI security review process evaluating the architecture, data flows, permissions, and design of internal AI tools, agentic/MCP-based systems, and AI features — and embed security requirements into the design phase. You will threat model AI/LLM-based systems and their data flows for risks such as prompt injection, insecure output handling, excessive agency, tool-permission abuse, data poisoning, and sensitive-data exposure, and drive remediation. You will review source code, system prompts, agent configurations, and tool/permission manifests (e.g., MCP definitions), and help tool owners build security-focused test cases and red-team/eval scenarios to verify requirements before launch. As a Staff Software Engineer on the Automation - Foundations team, you will lead the re-platforming of the data layer underneath Vanta’s entire compliance product. This is a migration that spans multiple teams, has to preserve every public API contract along the way, and cannot lose a single customer’s evidence while it happens. Foundations is Vanta’s data platform team. We ingest security and compliance data from across our customer’s environments, currently tens of thousands of resources per second, with single-customer bursts running into the millions. We store the data, catalog it, make it queryable, and turn it into evidence that has to survive a real SOC 2 or FedRAMP audit. We are in the middle of moving our platform from a Mongo-centric architecture to a schema-aware, Postgres-backed architecture, on a Kafka and S3 pipeline that decouples data fetching from processing. Both pipelines run in parallel today, the hard problems here are correctness under migration, eventual consistency, and multi-tenancy, in a domain where “mostly right” is not an acceptable failure mode.
