UX Designer - Developer Experience (DevEx)

Why this role exists The merchant lifecycle: onboarding, activation, and lifecycle across many surfaces, where consistency and reusability matter as much as any single flow. This role does double duty: raise the craft on the merchant lifecycle experience, and own the design system that keeps that experience coherent as the domain scales. You are the person who both designs the hard flow and builds the pattern that keeps the next ten from drifting. What you'll own Product design in the Operational Journey cluster: onboarding, dashboard, and KYC-heavy lifecycle flow, reconciling clarity with compliance requirements. Design system consolidation (your first mission): take the existing design system, analyze and diagnose it, consolidate and document it properly, and establish tokens and patterns the whole team can build on. Design standards across the domain: you set the quality bar and guide design decisions in areas without a dedicated designer yet, including the developer-experience surface, through standards and critique, not by producing every screen. Mentorship: you raise the craft of other designers on the team when needed. How you will work You report to the Product Design & UX Director for Customer Lifecycle. You are the senior design owner in the domain at the outset, setting standards, shipping craft, and building the system others rely on. Your time splits between product work and system consolidation, weighted toward the system early while the foundation is built, then rebalancing toward product.

Why this role exists For a payment-infrastructure company, the product is in large part the API. Developers are both the buyers and the daily users, and the quality of the APIs, SDKs, docs, sandbox, and integration path is the product's real surface. This role owns the developer's journey from first API call to production and scale, the difference between a developer who integrates in an afternoon and one who gives up before their first successful transaction. What you'll own The roadmap for the developer experience: integration flow, SDKs, documentation, sandbox, error handling, and time-to-first-successful-call. Developer activation and retention as headline metrics, from sign-up to first production transaction and beyond. Discovery grounded in developer behavior: integration analytics, support and community signals, and direct developer research. Partnership with Engineering on API design and DX standards, and prioritization of DX debt against new capabilities. Clear communication of trade-offs to senior stakeholders, and translation of platform changes into a coherent developer-facing experience.
