Act as each account's de facto CTO on Baseten, with final accountability for how their workloads are designed, run, and scaled. Take customer objectives from vague to shipped: frame the problem, define the spec and success criteria, build the PoC, and carry it through to production quickly, using the right tools for the problem. About Us: AI needs a new infrastructure layer. We're building it at Modal. Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now. Our customers include category-defining companies like Lovable , Ramp , Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale. We recently raised a $355M Series C at a $4.65B valuation, led by General Catalyst and Redpoint Ventures. We've crossed $300M+ ARR and grown fivefold since September. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g., Seaborn , Luig i ), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience. The Role: Modal is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to partner with our sales team and drive technical sales success. As an FDE, you will be the technical voice in our sales process, working directly with Account Executives to help enterprise customers understand how Modal can transform their AI/ML infrastructure. You will: Partner with Account Executives to identify, qualify, and close strategic enterprise opportunities Lead technical discovery sessions with prospective customers to understand their current infrastructure, pain points, and requirements Design and present compelling technical solutions that demonstrate how Modal addresses customer needs Architect migration paths from existing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) to Modal's serverless platform Conduct technical demos, experiments, and proof-of-concepts that showcase Modal's capabilitie

Ramp
📍 New York• Full-time• From $10K/yr

About Ramp Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $200B in annualized spend flows in and out of 70,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books. The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving. We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome. The median Ramp customer saves 5% and grows revenue 16% in their first year – far in excess of businesses operating without Ramp. We believe every ambitious company deserves the same. If you want to build systems that directly shape how companies move and manage billions, Ramp is the place to do it. About the Role The team owns the core experience that helps finance teams control, automate, and optimize company spend. We build the engine that powers Ramp’s card and expense workflows—from card issuance and spend limits to approvals, policy enforcement, and real-time insights. Our systems handle billions of dollars in transactions and integrate deeply with Ramp’s AI platform, financial infrastructure, and partner ecosystems (banks, ERPs, HRIS). As a backend engineer on this team, you’ll work across product surfaces that are central to Ramp’s success: cards, approvals, spend controls, and automation intelligence. What You’ll Do Design, build, and scale backend systems that power spend controls, approval workflows, and card transactions at massive scale Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and data to deliver intelligent, user-first experiences for finance teams Integrate with Ramp’s internal AI platform to automate spend policy enforcement and anomaly detection Own complex projects end-to-end — from architecture to deployment and o
