Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: The mission of the Core Data Science team is to ensure that we are leveraging state of the art science at Airbnb for the highest possible impact on the business and the community. We do that by building reusable tools and models that empower DS teams across the organization; and by tackling the most technically challenging, high impact data science problems the company faces. The Difference You Will Make: Estimating the causal impact of product changes is a core function of data science at Airbnb. This is typically done through short term experiments or quasi-experiments. However, ultimately we are interested not in maximizing the short term impact of what we do, but rather optimizing for the long term. Doing this well requires accurately estimating the long term impact of platform changes through frameworks that connect short-term outcomes to long-term impact. In this role, you will develop and improve our frameworks for long-term impact estimation and own the most important estimation problems you identify. We are looking for someone that can develop the science and ensure it is fitted to Airbnb's problem space and stakeholder needs. Success is better long-term impact estimation in practice, not just in theory. A Typical Day: Develop causal estimates for long-term impact of short-term metric movements. Build frameworks for estimating how the impact of product changes evolves over time. Create frameworks and tooling to evaluate the heterogeneous impact of product changes Develop and apply causal inference methods, including experimental, econometric regressions, a

Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way. The Community You Will Join: Airbnb, a leader in travel and hospitality, is on a mission to create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. Long-Term Stay & Luxe is being built with 0-to-1 intensity inside a marketplace that already moves at massive scale, and this team needs people who can operate like founders while still respecting the rigor of a mature, two-sided marketplace. The Difference You Will Make: Airbnb is seeking a Staff, Advanced Analytics to be the analytics owner and strategic partner for Long-Term Stay & Luxe — setting the agenda for what gets measured and tested, building the quantitative models that underpin how the business grows, and operating as a peer to product and business leadership. A Typical Day: Own the end-to-end analytics strategy and roadmap for Long-Term Stay & Luxe — decide what to measure, what to test, and where the biggest leverage is. Prioritization decisions should exist because of your recommendations. Build and evolve the quantitative models that run the business: supply-demand balance, marketplace liquidity, pricing and take-rate models, and LTV/forecasting — going beyond dashboards to build the underlying data models and pipelines. Design and analyze experiments across pricing, search and ranking, host onboarding, and guest conversion. Develop causal-inference approaches (holdouts, proxy metrics, quasi-experimental methods) for the many cases where a clean randomized trial isn't possible given lower volumes or longer booking cycles. Act as a proactive strategic partner to product, GM, and cross-functional leaders — surface insights and recomme

About the Team The Alignment team at OpenAI is dedicated to ensuring that our AI systems are safe, trustworthy, and consistently aligned with human values, even as they scale in complexity and capability. Our work is at the cutting edge of AI research, focusing on developing methodologies that enable AI to robustly follow human intent across a wide range of scenarios, including those that are adversarial or high-stakes. We concentrate on the most pressing challenges, ensuring our work addresses areas where AI could have the most significant consequences. By focusing on risks that we can quantify and where our efforts can make a tangible difference, we aim to ensure that our models are ready for the complex, real-world environments in which they will be deployed. The two pillars of our approach are: (1) harnessing improved capabilities into alignment, making sure that our alignment techniques improve, rather than break, as capabilities grow, and (2) centering humans by developing mechanisms and interfaces that enable humans to both express their intent and to effectively supervise and control AIs, even in highly complex situations. About the Role As a Research Engineer / Research Scientist on the Alignment team, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that our AI systems consistently follow human intent, even in complex and unpredictable scenarios. Your role will involve designing and implementing scalable solutions that ensure the alignment of AI as their capabilities grow and that integrate human oversight into AI decision-making. This role is especially well suited for someone who can move from an ambiguous model-behavior question to a concrete experimental setup: formulate the hypothesis, build the evaluation or intervention, run the experiment, analyze the result, and decide what the evidence supports. This role may be based in San Francisco or London, subject to team needs and location approval. In this role, you will: We are seeking research engineers and res
