About the role As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) focused on Inference & Post-Training, you will be a hands-on technical partner to our most strategic customers — production AI teams looking to leverage high quality models and do inference at scale. For us, FDE is not a replacement for a Solutions Architect; you will partner with our SAs as a deep-domain specialist in inference optimization, fine-tuning pipelines, and production deployment. As key contributors to both the CX, Engineering, and Sales organizations, FDEs add tremendous value by ensuring we can meet the requirements of our most complex POCs, facilitate successful platform adoption, and guide tailored optimization efforts — directly impacting customer success, company growth, and the hardening of our core platform. Must be a permanent resident or citizen of Singapore. Responsibilities Inference Engine Optimization: Select, configure, and optimize inference engine based on hardware, model architecture, and workload profile Configuration & Performance Tuning: Develop configuration updates to win critical POCs, benchmarks, and optimize customer deployments; tune KV cache, apply speculative decoding, determine optimal tensor parallelism, and determine quantization strategy to hit throughput and latency targets. Post-Training & Fine-Tuning: Drive hands-on RL training runs and optimize system design; guide customers through LoRA, SFT, DPO, RLHF, and GRPO pipelines from experimentation through production. Strategic Customer Alignment: Act as the primary technical point of contact for aligned strategic accounts — monitoring and optimizing endpoint configurations, helping customers get the most out of the platform, and collaborating to ensure we hit critical milestones. Opinionated Onboarding: Establish direct alignment with strategic customers at onboarding; ensure the right inference and post-training configurations are in place from day one to improve time-to-value. Product Feedback Loop: D

About the Team OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with leading semiconductor companies to deploy production-grade AI systems across the entire chip design lifecycle: design, verification, and physical design. We operate at the intersection of customer delivery and core platform development, embedding deeply with customers to translate frontier model capabilities into systems that materially improve engineering workflows and accelerate innovation. Our work turns early, high-touch deployments into repeatable solution patterns, reference architectures, and evaluation practices that scale across the semiconductor ecosystem. About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Physical Design Engineer to join our semiconductor-focused Forward Deployed Engineering team. This is a senior IC role that will begin with a strong emphasis on physical design expertise, technical judgment, advisory leverage, and customer credibility, with the expectation that the person will grow into a broader Forward Deployed Engineering role over time. In the near term, you will serve as the team’s physical design SME across semiconductor deployments: helping FDEs, Product, and Research understand backend implementation workflows, pressure-test AI-assisted solution ideas against real physical design constraints, and raise the quality of our customer-facing technical work. You will help the broader team build fluency in implementation flows, EDA tooling, signoff methodology, and the trade-offs that shape physical design decisions in practice. Over time, we expect this role to expand beyond SME support into broader FDE ownership: partnering directly with customers, shaping deployment strategy, building and iterating production-grade AI systems, driving technical workstreams, and helping turn high-touch semiconductor deployments into repeatable solutions. This is a strong fit for someone who brings deep physical design expertise today and is excited to grow into a customer-facing, syst

Baseten

ABOUT BASETEN Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma and Writer. By uniting applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling, we enable companies operating at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. We're growing quickly and recently raised our $1.5B Series F , led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to to ship AI products. THE ROLE Forward Deployed Engineers work directly with the largest and fastest-growing AI companies in the world, owning their technical outcomes on Baseten and taking on the hardest problems in serving and improving models at scale. The work spans the model lifecycle: inference, post-training, and the systems that tighten the loop between them. Act as each account's de facto CTO on Baseten, with final accountability for how their workloads are designed, run, and scaled. Take customer objectives from vague to shipped: frame the problem, define the spec and success criteria, build the PoC, and carry it through to production quickly, using the right tools for the problem. Design the evals and benchmarks that isolate where quality or performance falls short, then close the gap yourself, whether that means optimizing inference, improving the model through post-training, or reworking the eval itself. Be the first responder to mission-critical failures including triage, owning the fix directly or route to the owning team and stay accountable until it ships. Build internal systems so that each engagement is faster than the last. This includes tooling and automation for eval and deployment infrastructure, and the recipes and reference implementations that make the product more self-serve. Shape the product itself, channeling what your accounts need into the roadmap and shipping fixes and features into Baseten's codebase yourse

About Us: AI needs a new infrastructure layer. We're building it at Modal. Every era of computing brought new workloads that previous infrastructure couldn't support: mainframes, databases, and the cloud. Each time, the company that rebuilt the layer underneath defined the decade. AI is no different, except it touches everything instead of one slice, and the window to build the layer underneath it is open right now. Our customers include category-defining companies like Lovable , Ramp , Cognition, DoorDash, and Suno. They rely on Modal for instant GPU access, sub-second container starts, and native storage, so it's simple to serve low-latency inference, fine-tune models, and access production-ready sandboxes at scale. We recently raised a $355M Series C at a $4.65B valuation, led by General Catalyst and Redpoint Ventures. We've crossed $300M+ ARR and grown fivefold since September. Our team includes creators of popular open-source projects (e.g., Seaborn , Luig i ), academic researchers, international olympiad medalists, and experienced engineering and product leaders with decades of experience. The Role: Modal is seeking an experienced Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to partner with our sales team and drive technical sales success. As an FDE, you will be the technical voice in our sales process, working directly with Account Executives to help enterprise customers understand how Modal can transform their AI/ML infrastructure. You will: Partner with Account Executives to identify, qualify, and close strategic enterprise opportunities Lead technical discovery sessions with prospective customers to understand their current infrastructure, pain points, and requirements Design and present compelling technical solutions that demonstrate how Modal addresses customer needs Architect migration paths from existing cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) to Modal's serverless platform Conduct technical demos, experiments, and proof-of-concepts that showcase Modal's capabilitie
