Key Responsibilities: The Band 6 General Radiographer is responsible for conducting a range of diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans, while ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis. They prepare patients for these procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and obtaining informed consent. The role involves operating and maintaining radiographic equipment to ensure it functions correctly and safely, as well as assisting in the initial interpretation of images and reporting significant findings to the supervising radiologist or clinician. Radiographers must adhere to quality assurance protocols and health and safety regulations to maintain high standards of practice, while also maintaining accurate patient records and documentation related to imaging procedures, including consent forms and reports. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is essential to ensure a coordinated approach to patient care. Additionally, they provide guidance and support to junior radiographers, students, and support staff, fostering a positive learning environment, and engage in ongoing professional development and training to stay up to date with advancements in radiography and imaging techniques.
