Scale AI
📍 San Francisco• Full-time• From $182.4K/yr
20 days ago

Join the team shaping the future of AI at Scale. Scale builds RL environments: sandboxed replicas of the digital spheres where real knowledge work occurs and built from the operating data of the companies that actually hold it. As the Data Acquisition Lead , you will own the commercial motion that gets us that data end to end. You will figure out which companies sit on the data for the next domain worth owning and then go and get it. This is a zero-to-one function with no playbook. You should be prepared to wear many hats, from thesis-driven dealmaker to hands-on operator to technical translator between commercial and Research teams. You will: Map the supply side. Work backwards from where labs are pushing to the specific organizations holding the underlying data. Build a thesis on which domains are worth owning and in what order. Invent the deal structures. You'll work with Scale’s legal team to define the first version of how these transactions get priced. Close. Own it from cold outreach to signature. Close the loop with the technical side. You need to hold a real conversation about what makes a dataset trainable and become an expert in what makes this underlying data valuable. Build the machine. Do the work by hand first, then turn what you learn into a repeatable pipeline. Ideally, you’d have: 5+ years across some mix of business development, corp dev, commercial strategy, or early-stage GTM. The label matters less than a track record of building a commercial motion that didn't exist before you got there A strong track record of managing important external relationships Strong business judgment and the ability to evaluate partnership value quickly Clear communication skills and comfort working with senior stakeholders Ability to operate independently while staying closely connected to cross-functional teams A practical, hands-on approach to building new functions from the ground up Comfort working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments Experience in

About the Team DoorDash’s GenAI Platform team sits within Machine Learning Platform and builds the shared infrastructure that helps DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo teams safely bring GenAI-powered products, agents, automation, and personalization to production. Our mission is to increase the velocity of business impact from GenAI. A central pillar of that work is running frontier open-weight LLMs and VLMs (such as GLM, Qwen, Kimi, and DeepSeek) ourselves — real-time GPU serving, high-throughput batch inference, and fine-tuning on autoscaling GPUs — delivering large cost and latency wins (for example, a billion embeddings produced roughly 20× cheaper and visual models served roughly 72% cheaper). We also own core platform surfaces including the LLM Gateway, Agent Gateway, evals infrastructure, guardrails, and cost attribution. About the Role You will join a small, high-leverage team building production infrastructure for Generative AI at DoorDash, leading the design and architecture of our open-weights model platform spanning inference and fine-tuning: real-time GPU serving, high-throughput batch inference, and model fine-tuning. You’ll set technical direction across model serving and inference engines, fine-tuning and training pipelines, GPU autoscaling and utilization, batch pipelines, backend services, and observability, and mentor engineers as you go. This role is ideal for a senior engineer who enjoys owning ambiguous, high-impact systems and pushing the cost/performance frontier of GPU inference and fine-tuning in a fast-moving technical area where product needs, model capabilities, vendor ecosystems, and cost/performance tradeoffs are evolving quickly. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… Lead the design of infrastructure that helps DoorDash teams move GenAI ideas from prototype to production, increasing the velocity of business impact from AI across the company. About the Team At DoorDash, design means making experiences for the people who order, the people who prepare, and the people who deliver. As a Design Manager at DoorDash, you want to build things that matter to real people. You're at your best when you can move from idea to shipped product quickly, bringing experiences to life that reach and influence users at massive scale. You'll care about whether the product you make solved a real problem for real people, or changed how someone experiences their day. You'll work shoulder-to-shoulder with Engineering and Product Management, dig into the data, and use LLM-powered tools alongside traditional design tools. If the LLM powered tools don’t exist yet, you build them. About the Role Trust is the foundation of every interaction on DoorDash. We're looking for a design leader who can define and drive a vision for designing for integrity at scale. In this role, you will join the Integrity organization. You’ll lead a team of designers working across fraud prevention, trust, safety, and compliance — protecting millions of consumers, Dashers, and merchants while keeping the platform seamless and trustworthy. You will report into the Head of Design for our Customer Experience & Integrity organization. This role is hybrid- 1–2 days per week in one of our Design Hubs. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… Set the technical direction for Design across your product area — decide what gets built, in what order, and why; connect multiple teams around shared platforms so the work compounds instead of duplicating Work on ambiguous problems and turn them into architecture decisions and working systems that teams actually use; earn trust with leadership not through decks, but through prototypes and shipped code that make your point for you Stay close to the code and the craft across multiple projects at once — you're not just reviewing, you're building; the work you ship will move real metrics across the product area

We’re a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards. The Prime team's mission is to build Bitstamp's prime brokerage for institutional clients — the platform that lets hedge funds, market makers, and professional trading firms fund, trade, borrow against, and settle positions at scale. We build the systems that move real institutional money: cross-venue settlement, credit against collateral, matched-book lending, and the bridge that brings tokenized securities to our order book. These are correctness-critical systems where a wrong answer can't be cheaply undone — getting them right is the whole job. As a Senior Software Engineer , you will own the design and end-to-end delivery of the systems at the core of that mission. You'll lead other engineers through problems of high ambiguity, set the technical bar for how we build for failure and not just the happy path, and be a go-to technical partner for the team, our stakeholders, and our counterparts across Robinhood. This role is based in our Slovenia office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week . ABOUT BASETEN Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies, like Cursor, Notion, OpenEvidence, Abridge, Clay, Gamma, and Writer. By uniting applied AI research, flexible infrastructure, and seamless developer tooling, we enable companies operating at the frontier of AI to bring cutting-edge models into production. We're growing quickly and recently raised our $1.5B Series F , led by Altimeter Capital, Conviction Partners, and Spark Capital. Join us and help build the platform engineers turn to ship AI products. THE ROLE This role owns Baseten's relationships and market intelligence across hyperscalers and strategic neoclouds, including NVIDIA cloud partners. This is a technical and commercial role in equal measure: you'll evaluate capacity from the GPU to the data center, negotiate cost and terms with suppliers, and stay close enough to the market to develop and defend a real point of view on where it's heading. Given current market conditions, Baseten needs a much stronger pulse on this part of the market so we can track pricing, stay close to the right relationships, and move fast the moment more capacity is needed. This is a senior, experienced hire who will also help pair with and develop 1-2 junior to mid-level teammates covering the same space. WHAT YOU'LL DO Build and maintain deep relationships across hyperscalers and strategic neoclouds (including NVIDIA cloud partners), working each organization from top to bottom rather than a single point of contact Maintain a consistent, "top of mind" presence with key accounts so Baseten is positioned to move quickly when capacity needs arise Evaluate capacity from the GPU to the data center — hardware generation, rack and node configuration, interconnect, power density, and cooling — so you know what a configuration will actually deliver, not just what the spec sheet claims Live in compute pricing daily: track rates by GPU generation, region, and contract term to keep Baseten inf
