MongoDB is looking for an outstanding person to join our newly created Forward Deployed Engineering team and take on a key role in our extended R&D organization. Forward Deployed Engineering is linking the work of teams engaged on application modernization roles with our Product and Engineering teams. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin or Cork for our hybrid working model. Many organizations have built up large estates of legacy applications. Lack of scalability and resilience, long development times, operating cost, and inability to run on cloud are common issues with these applications. To address these issues, organizations are engaging in large transformational Application Modernisation programs. MongoDB is recognized as the developer data platform of choice for transactional systems that provide the best scalability, resiliency and developer experience in the cloud as well as on premises. Organizations are continuously migrating workloads from these legacy applications to new platforms, often based on microservices, using MongoDB. Such transformations are time intensive and often risky. Tooling based on generative AI promises to accelerate these transformations in a way never seen before. Forward Deployed Engineering is responsible for exploring the possibilities of Generative AI technologies and providing invaluable feedback to MongoDB’s R&D teams to drive future capabilities of MongoDB and the MongoDB ecosystem. Application Modernization Engineers will work alongside project teams that are executing Application Modernisation projects with customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluation, build, and applying tools in modernization projects, facilitating the usage of such tools and processes across the different project teams, identifying opportunities for tooling deployment, selecting potential 3rd party tools, contributing to the development of tooling prototypes and helping to shape t

MongoDB is growing its team in Sydney, focusing on building intelligent tools that help customers understand and modernise their application codebases. The Application Modernisation Platform (AMP) guides customers through the entire journey of modernising their applications — from legacy relational platforms to modern, scalable systems built on MongoDB. The App Analysis & Modelling team owns the critical first stage of this journey: building the context that powers everything downstream. The team builds code analysis tools that construct code dependency graphs and generate deep insights for codebases, giving customers a clear understanding of their existing applications before transformation begins. The team also designs schema recommendation engines that analyse signals such as existing relational schemas and query patterns to inform data modelling decisions. Our work sits at the intersection of analysis, data modelling, and AI — helping developers make confident, data-driven decisions as they transition to MongoDB. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer who is passionate about building scalable backend systems and applications. As we expand our use of AI to power smarter analysis and recommendations, the ideal candidate will bring strong backend engineering fundamentals with the ability to contribute across the full stack. You will collaborate closely with product management and other engineering teams to design and deliver cutting-edge features that guide customers through complex modernisation journeys. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Sydney for our hybrid working model. AI agents are transforming the way developers interact with software - and databases are no exception. We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our AI Interfaces team within AI Builder Experience (ABX), where you'll provide technical direction, shape architecture, and build the core products that make it seamless for developers and AI agents to work with MongoDB. Our team owns the surfaces through which humans and agents connect to MongoDB - including the MongoDB MCP Server, Agent Skills, our Intelligent Assistant Platform, and purpose-built agents. In short: if it's how an agent talks to MongoDB, we're building it. This is a new team charting new territory, and as a Senior Software Engineer here, you'll be right at the frontier - building the technologies that let AI applications and agentic workflows work seamlessly with MongoDB at scale. You'll integrate with fast-moving, often unproven technologies, make pragmatic calls in the face of ambiguity, and own high-visibility projects end to end with minimal guidance. We're looking for product-minded engineers who thrive on autonomy and take pride in shipping. MongoDB engineering teams pride themselves on building high-quality software and living our cultural values every day - we value intellectual curiosity and honesty, and building together in an environment that prioritizes collaboration over competition. This position requires participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation to ensure business continuity and incident response capabilities. This role can be based out of our Gurugram office. AI frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, and n8n are quickly becoming the default way developers build with AI — and MongoDB wants to be the data platform that shows up everywhere they build. As part of the AI Builders Experience (ABX) org, we're standing up a brand new engineering team in Gurugram to make that happen, and we're looking for Senior Software Engineers to be among its founding members. The team owns the connective layer between MongoDB and third-party AI frameworks, platforms, and tools — the integrations that let developers use MongoDB effectively with the AI stack they've already chosen. That means shipping into some of the fastest-moving open-source ecosystems in tech, working mostly in Python and TypeScript, and partnering with the Database Experience (DBX) org when an integration needs new driver, platform, or product capability underneath it. This is a self-sufficient team by design. You and your engineering manager will be based in Gurugram, and the group is set up to own its area end to end: to decide how integrations get built, tested, released, and maintained, without waiting on another time zone to unblock the day-to-day. You'll work closest with the engineers sitting next to you, pairing on hard problems, reviewing each other's code, and dividing up a broad portfolio, while collaborating with product, partners, field teams, and open source maintainers as the work requires. You'll integrate with fast-moving, often unproven technologies, make pragmatic calls in the face of ambiguity, and own high-visibility projects with minimal guidance. Priorities can shift week to week based on framework changes, customer demand, and partner needs, so we're looking for product-minded engineers who thrive on autonomy and take pride in shipping. Much of your work will happen in public: sending pull requests to upstream repositories, working through external maintainer review cycles, and representing MongoDB in developer communities.
