Senior Software Engineer - Analytics Compute Platform Team About the Role & Team Every chart, insight, and experiment result a customer sees in Amplitude passes through the compute layer that this team owns. Our team sits between Amplitude's front-end analytics products/ rest APIs/ MCPs and Nova, our proprietary analytics database, and owns the compute API that translates a user's question into a fast, correct answer. Our mandate: enable a highly performant, reliable, and flexible way to compute insights. Those three goals are often in tension the more flexible we make the system, the harder it is to keep it fast and simple, and a lot of the interesting engineering work on this team lives in that tradeoff. Day to day, you'll work closely with engineers on data management, marketing analytics, Session Replay, Experiment, CDP, Query, and various product teams, since they're all consumers of what we build. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will Design and build core parts of the query/compute engine that powers analysis across Amplitude's product suite Evolve the compute API and semantic layer that other engineering teams build features on top of, so that it can support a more generic table Help unify and evolve our core data model, including how non-event data (profile properties, lookup tables, etc.) is represented alongside event data Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of query planning and execution on the Amplitude query engine Partner with teams across Session Replay, Experiment, CDP, Query, and frontend to understand their needs and shape the compute layer around them Take ownership of projects end-to-end, from design through rollout You'll be a great addition to the team if you have Strong backend or distributed-systems engineering experience, ideally touching OLAP databases, query engines, or data infrastructure Experience with SQL, query planning/execution, or building APIs that many other engineering teams depend on Comfort reasoning

At Vanta, our mission is to help businesses earn and prove trust. We believe that security should be monitored and verified continuously, and we empower companies to practice better security and prove it with ease. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it. Vanta’s new Enterprise Resilience team is being formed to support the next era of growth by powering services that are reliable, scalable, and resilient by design. As our customer base expands and our systems scale, we need a dedicated group focused on partnering closely with product engineering teams to build and operate robust distributed systems across all of Vanta’s environments, including our new FedRAMP deployment. In this role, you’ll help define the foundations of reliability at Vanta including shaping best practices, building core infrastructure, and guiding teams as they design services that perform consistently for customers. This team will have a broad and deep impact across product engineering. Your work will influence how every Vanta engineer builds, deploys, monitors, and maintains their services, whether for our commercial environment or regulated customers with more stringent requirements. You’ll develop tools and frameworks that make it easier to detect and remediate issues, improve operational readiness, and support feature development that meets the needs of increasingly large and complex enterprise customers. Vanta engineers design and develop new product functionality and infrastructure using modern frameworks and tooling, including TypeScript, React, Node.js, MongoDB, GitHub Actions, and AWS services such as Fargate and ECS. If you're excited to help define a new function, raise the reliability bar across an entire engineering organization, and build systems that scale with Vanta’s growth, we’d love to meet you. Vanta has a kind and talented team, and while some have prior security experience, many have been successful at Vanta without it. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Product Platform org - the group that powers product development across Vanta by building the shared foundations that every engineering team builds on top of. This hire will join one of two closely-aligned teams within the org, each working on foundational challenges with company-wide impact. Application Primitives is responsible for the shared, customer-facing platform components that product teams implement across the product: examples include comments, notifications platform, event log infrastructure, and agentic audit trails. This team sits at the intersection of platform and product - not pure infrastructure, not pure product - building the reusable building blocks that let other teams ship faster and more consistently. Libraries & Foundations is a brand-new team that owns Vanta's internal engineering libraries and golden-path patterns. Sitting between core platform and product platform in the stack, this team builds the TypeScript-first abstractions and shared foundations that all Vanta engineers build on top of - including event-driven architecture libraries, code quality tooling, and test frameworks. You'll be evaluated for both teams based on your background and interests, and the decision on team placement will reflect where your skills and passions are the strongest fit.
