You are passionate about continuous learning and eager to grow along with us in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will work remotely from Bulgaria and will be reporting to an engineering leader based in Bulgaria. You Will: Design and develop mobile frameworks and features for Smartsheet's native applications on both Android and iOS platforms. Guide and mentor team members regarding architecture and best practices for mobile development. Provide technical expertise, solving complex problems and offering thoughtful feedback on peer design and code reviews. Contribute to the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)—defining, designing, implementing, testing, and deploying new features. Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis to identify solutions and next steps for production issues. Work autonomously, overseeing essential features and collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, UI designers, senior developers, and testers. Recognize and take ownership of complex technical cross-team issues, driving them to resolution. Support development across multiple platforms (Android, iOS, Native NDK, etc.). The Team + The Role The Core team builds features and platform capabilities that power critical areas of the Pendo product experience. The team supports high-stakes customer use cases, shapes how systems evolve over time, and creates a more consistent experience across the platform. This work sits in complex product areas where delivery speed, system reliability, and long-term maintainability all matter. As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will own complex problem spaces and drive them forward independently. You will apply strong engineering judgment to ambiguous challenges, partner closely with Product and Design, and stay accountable to outcomes, not just output. You will break large efforts into small, continuously shippable increments, bring others along with you, and leave the codebase better than you found it. This role is based in our Raleigh office. What this looks like day-to-day Feature ownership: Own complex, ambiguous features end-to-end by structuring work into small, independently shippable increments. Drive delivery with clarity, strong judgment, and accountability for customer and system impact. Production engineering: Write production-ready code and define testing approaches based on risk and system impact. Use safe rollout patterns to reduce risk and enable incremental delivery. Incident response: Respond quickly when production issues arise in your area. Resolve issues and drive follow-up improvements that prevent recurrence. AI-enabled development: Use AI tools as a core part of your daily workflow for code generation, debugging, test writing, and task decomposition. Help raise the bar for how the team uses AI in development workflows. Technical collaboration: Deliver actionable code reviews, accurate documentation, and constructive contributions to technical discussions and planning sessions. The Team + The Role Our Emerging Team is focused on building AI Products for our product experience (PX) platform. We build from the ground up to explore, prototype, and ship AI-native experiences that change how software teams understand and serve their users. This is not an AI layer added to existing product; it is a deliberate bet on what product intelligence looks like next. The team operates with high autonomy, moves quickly, and builds products without clear precedents. As a Sr. Software Engineer (AI), you will sit at the intersection of deep technical capability and strong product judgment. You will design and ship applied AI systems, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered features, from prototype through production. You will make principled technical decisions, evaluate model behavior rigorously, and communicate tradeoffs clearly to engineers and non-engineers alike. This role is based in our New York office. What this looks like day-to-day Applied AI systems: Design and build AI systems including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows, and LLM-powered features. You will take work from prototype through production and ensure it can hold up in real customer environments. Technical decision-making: Make principled decisions on when to prompt, when to fine-tune, and when to use a different tool entirely. You will explain these tradeoffs clearly so the team can move quickly without sacrificing quality. Model evaluation: Instrument and evaluate model outputs rigorously by defining evaluation frameworks and catching hallucinations early. You will implement guardrails that can withstand real-world load and production use.
