About Flexport: At Flexport, we believe global trade can move the human race forward. That’s why it’s our mission to make global commerce so easy there will be more of it. We’re shaping the future of a $10T industry with solutions powered by innovative technology and exceptional people. Today, companies of all sizes—from emerging brands to Fortune 500s—use Flexport technology to move more than $19B of merchandise across 112 countries a year. The recent global supply chain crisis has put Flexport center stage as we continue to play a pivotal role in how goods move around the world. We are proud to have the support of the best investors in the game who believe in our mission, solutions and people. Ready to tackle global challenges that impact business, society, and the environment? Come join us. What you'll do There is no MSSP and no tier-1 queue here. Detection & Response engineers own their detections end to end: you write them, you tune them, and your team is paged when they fire. The security team is spread across the globe with a follow-the-sun pager rotation so nobody is paged at 3am local. The adversaries are real. The business is growing fast and the threat surface is growing with it. Defining the necessary telemetry is part of the job. Detection engineering Build and tune detections across endpoint, identity, SaaS, and cloud , treating them as software: version-controlled, peer-reviewed, and shipped through the same CI/CD practices the rest of engineering uses. Track detection quality as measured quantities : coverage against MITRE ATT&CK, precision, time-to-detect. We don’t build-and-forget here. Response & automation Own incident response: triage, contain, remediate, and write the retrospective that turns the incident into a systemic fix. Build automation that removes toil from investigations, and partner closely with the US-based team so context carries across time zones instead of getting lost at handoff. Telemetry & partnershi
About the Team Security is at the foundation of OpenAI’s mission to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Security team protects OpenAI’s technology, people, and products. We are technical in what we build but are operational in how we do our work, and are committed to supporting all products and research at OpenAI. Our Security team tenets include: prioritizing for impact, enabling researchers, preparing for future transformative technologies, and engaging a robust security culture. About the Role As a Security Engineer on Detection & Response, you’ll help protect OpenAI’s most sensitive assets– including our intellectual property, customer data, and the infrastructure that supports them– by building and operating the systems we use to detect suspicious activity and respond effectively when it matters. You’ll work across endpoints, identity, cloud, hyperscale compute infrastructure, and datacenter-adjacent layers, partnering closely with security teams and infrastructure owners to define the telemetry and response requirements we need and building tooling and automation where it delivers the most leverage. In this role, you will: Build and evolve Detection & Response capabilities across OpenAI’s infrastructure, products, and research environments, with an emphasis on high-signal detection and reliable operational response. Engineer detection pipelines and tooling: develop rule lifecycle management, measurement/quality loops (coverage, precision, latency), tuning processes, and safe rollout patterns. Automate response and investigations by building workflows that reduce toil (triage, enrichment, containment, evidence capture) and improve time-to-understand/time-to-contain. Partner with other Security teams and system/infrastructure owners across the company to ensure new systems ship with the right telemetry, threat models, and response playbooks from day one. Define D&R requirements and drive visibility across endpoin
About the Team Security is foundational to OpenAI’s mission to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. The Security organization protects OpenAI’s technology, people, and products by building and operating deeply technical systems that must work reliably at massive scale. Our work underpins OpenAI’s commitments around safety, privacy, and security across research, products, and emerging platforms. The Host Assurance team exists to make bare metal a dependable, scalable foundation for OpenAI: secure by default, verifiable in practice, and resilient across providers and operating models. We operate at the trust boundary between physical hardware and cloud-scale orchestration, ensuring that hosts are eligible to safely run workloads with predictable security properties and auditability. About the Role OpenAI is seeking a Security Engineer, Host Assurance to help build the trust foundations for bare-metal platforms across OpenAI’s global infrastructure. This is a deeply hands-on engineering role for a builder who can design, implement, and operate the core security infrastructure that establishes trust in hardware platforms before they are eligible to run workloads. Success in this role requires strong technical judgment, the ability to work comfortably at low levels of the stack, and a practical mindset for building systems that are secure, reliable, and usable in fast-moving production environments. The systems you build will sit on the critical path of OpenAI’s frontier infrastructure investments and will directly shape how large amounts of compute are brought online - securely, responsibly, and at global scale - underpinning long-lived commitments around privacy, security, and reliability. You will partner closely with infrastructure, research, and confidential computing initiatives—including novel hardware platforms and emerging deployment models– to make the secure path the easiest path. About the Team Codex is OpenAI's software engineering agent. Codex Security extends that work into one of the most important product areas in AI: helping organizations find, validate, prioritize, and fix real vulnerabilities in the software they build and depend on. The Codex Cyber team is building the product and platform foundations for AI-native application security. This includes Codex Security product experiences, cloud-based security analysis, platform controls across Codex, customer deployment and support tooling, and infrastructure that helps security researchers and cyber models improve over time. The team is early, small, and growing quickly, with a mandate to move fast and hire exceptional builders. About the Role We are looking for software engineers first: strong full-stack or product-minded generalists who can own ambiguous product and platform problems end to end. Security experience is helpful, and security curiosity is important, but this is not a role for security specialists who only occasionally write code. The right person is an excellent builder who is excited to work in security and can turn complex research, product, and customer needs into reliable systems. You will work across user-facing product surfaces, developer workflows, backend services, security analysis pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and internal tooling. You may build features that make Codex Security more useful for application security teams, systems that scale cloud-based security analysis, platform controls that make agentic coding safer, or infrastructure that helps security researchers and models become more effective. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, security research, infrastructure, and customer-facing partners as Codex Cyber becomes a major product and platform investment for OpenAI. In this role, you will: Build end-to-end product features for Codex Security, from developer-facing interfaces to APIs, backend services, and workflow tooling. Own a
