What you’ll do Own day-to-day operations for the scanner program and scanner builds in the spa: purchasing/procurement, vendor management, receiving, inventory, and logistics. Stand up lightweight production operations as we move from prototypes to repeatable builds: build planning, kitting, work instructions, and readiness checklists. Partner with Quality to ensure the operational system supports compliance: traceability, document control, training records, NCR/CAPA workflows, and audit readiness. Drive cross-functional execution for the physical spa build-out and scanner integration: schedules, dependencies, risk register, and weekly coordination with vendors and internal teams. Own the “integration glue” across facilities + device ops: commissioning plans, acceptance criteria, and operational handoff (runbooks, maintenance, spares, escalation paths). Build and track operational metrics: cost, budget, lead times, vendor performance, build throughput, and reliability of critical subsystems. Audit of import/export documentation, management of contract renewals, regulatory compliance. What we’re looking for Proven operations leadership in hardware/medical/robotics (or similarly complex electromechanical products), including procurement and vendor management. Strong program management instincts: can run schedules, unblock cross-functional dependencies, and keep priorities clear under ambiguity. Comfort operating in quality/regulatory environments and building processes that are rigorous without slowing a small team. High ownership and bias to action: can jump between spreadsheets, docks, and the lab/site to keep the program moving. Useful experience Experience running prototype-to-production transitions (NPI, EVT/DVT/PVT-style builds, CM/EMS collaboration). Facilities / construction operations experience (GC coordination, MEP commissioning, site readiness). Familiarity with inventory systems and procurement tooling (even “simple but disciplined”).
What you’ll do Act as the technical lead for large parts of the scanner platform: system architecture, codebase structure, and long-term maintainability. Own core runtime foundations: distributed control, state management, fault handling, and reliability. Drive engineering rigor: testability, code quality, review standards, performance regression prevention, and release processes. Build robust observability: logs, metrics, traces, and replayable diagnostics (with privacy constraints). Collaborate with hardware and recon/ML teams to define interfaces, data contracts, timing/synchronization, and failure modes. Lead complex refactors (e.g., message passing / RPC boundaries, modularization, concurrency model) without halting forward progress. What we’re looking for Deep software architecture experience for real-world systems: robotics, instrumentation, medical devices, or other complex distributed products. Strong Python and concurrency background (asyncio, multiprocessing, profiling, performance engineering). Track record of shipping systems that are observable, debuggable, and resilient. Strong technical leadership: clarity, pragmatic trade-offs, and mentoring. Useful experience Building but rock-solid systems: clear interfaces (gRPC/protobuf or equivalent), strong state modeling, and failure handling. High-leverage engineering habits on a lean team: good tests, CI, reproducible dev environments, and fast code review. Practical performance + concurrency work in Python (asyncio, profiling, multiprocessing) and comfort debugging distributed behavior. Security-minded device software: safe defaults, encrypted data paths, and disciplined handling of PII/PHI. Operational thinking: remote updates/management, excellent logging, and diagnostics that make real hardware debuggable.

About the Team The CoT Monitorability team at OpenAI studies whether and when the chain-of-thought of frontier reasoning models is monitorable enough to support scalable oversight. We study how to measure monitorability , which training mechanisms affect monitorability, and speculative methods to improve monitorability. While we mostly focus on CoT monitorability at the moment, we care more generally about any form of monitorability, auditing methods, and improving alignment. We were the first to show that chain-of-thought monitoring can be a practical additional safety mechanism, and today our monitoring systems are actively used on OpenAI’s largest RL training runs to detect misbehavior. The issues we surface are then used to help improve our reward functions, environments, etc (without directly training against a CoT monitor). Our work sits in Alignment and intersects with model training, alignment evaluations, monitoring, and frontier-risk research. We care most about monitorability where the stakes are high, and about preserving useful oversight signals as models become more capable. About the Role We’re looking for a researcher with strong empirical ML expertise and a deep interest in model behavior, alignment, or interpretability. Direct chain-of-thought interpretability experience is welcome but not required; strong candidates may come from broader interpretability, alignment, model training, or investigative model-behavior work. As a researcher on the Alignment team, you will design and run experiments that improve our understanding of model monitorability. You will investigate how training interventions across the model-development pipeline influence whether reasoning remains legible, build evaluations that make those questions measurable, and help translate findings into practical oversight and training recommendations. You may also help develop new monitoring models or methods and apply them to OpenAI’s largest training runs. This role is especially well
About the Team The ChatGPT Consumer Marketing team helps people understand, adopt, and get lasting value from one of the world’s most widely used AI products. We work across product, brand, creative, growth, media, lifecycle, research, communications, social, partnerships, and international markets. We bring the voice of users into product decisions and build marketing that makes powerful technology feel clear, useful, and human. About the Role We are looking for an Integrated Marketing Manager to shape how ChatGPT shows up for students and young adults. This is an opportunity to own the strategy end to end—from how ChatGPT supports student and campus life to how it becomes a creative partner as young people pursue their ambitions. You will turn a deep understanding of this audience into positioning, experiences, and programs that earn genuine relevance and participation. Your work will span campus communities, student ambassadors, creators, partnerships, activations, social, paid and owned channels, and the product itself. The right person is an uncommon combination of strategist, operator, and creative thinker. You can uncover and articulate a sharp audience insight, translate it into a compelling plan, bring original ideas to the table, and stand up the work needed to deliver them. You have strong instincts for youth culture, know what will resonate without chasing trends, and can align teams around a clear vision for the audience. This role is based in San Francisco, CA, or New York, NY. We use a hybrid work model of three days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role, you will: Own the end-to-end integrated marketing strategy for students and young adults, from audience insight and opportunity identification through execution, optimization, and learning. Define the role ChatGPT can play across academic life, campus life, creative expression, and the transition from education to career. Turn audience and cultural insi
