Day-to-day you’ll operate across mid-to-lower funnel channels — social, ecommerce, retail, sales enablement, and short-form video. Role Summary We are seeking a Partnerships Operations Lead to build and run the operating foundation for OpenAI for Government’s Partnerships team. This person will serve as the operational connective tissue across the partner team, working closely with Account Directors, Solutions Architects, Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, and other cross-functional stakeholders to move opportunities from initial engagement through agreement and execution. They will help ensure a smooth handoff to Technical Success across accounts by establishing clear readiness criteria, capturing the right commercial and customer context, and aligning teams on partner roles, commitments, dependencies, and success outcomes. The ideal candidate is a true utility player who combines the relationship instincts of a growth oriented builder with the rigor of an exceptional business operator. Key Responsibilities Own the end-to-end operating cadence for partner-sourced and partner-influenced opportunities, from intake and qualification through approvals, contracting, launch, and expansion. About the role OpenAI is seeking a strategic and deeply technical leader to serve as the Head of Government Technical Success. This leader will oversee the technical functions across the government customer lifecycle, spanning pre-sales engagement, prototype-to-production delivery, and post-sales adoption and value realization. You will define and operate a unified technical success strategy across federal civilian, defense and national security, state and local, international public sector, and industry partners. Your mission is to help customers identify the highest value applications of OpenAI’s technology, navigate the technical and organizational requirements of government environments, move those applications into production, and scale adoption in ways that deliver measurable mission impact. This role combines organizational leadership, technical judgment, executive customer engagement, operating rigor, and product influence. You will partner closely with Government Sales, Product, Engineering, Research, Security, Legal, Global Affairs and Policy, and other teams to ensure a seamless customer experience for governments in the United States and around the world. Our team works to empower public servants with secure, compliant AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT Enterprise, ChatGPT Gov) and mission-aligned deployments that meet government technical requirements with strong reliability and safety. About the role Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) lead complex deployments of frontier models in production. You will embed with our most strategic government and public sector customers—where model performance matters, delivery is urgent, and ambiguity is the default. You’ll map their problems, structure delivery, and ship fast. This includes scoping, sequencing, and building full-stack solutions that create measurable value, while driving clarity across internal and external teams. You will work directly with defense, intelligence, and federal stakeholders as their technical thought partner, guiding adoption, maximizing mission impact, and ensuring successful deployments at scale. Along the way, you’ll identify reusable patterns, codify best practices, and share field signal that influences OpenAI’s roadmap. This role is based in Washington DC, Seattle or San Francisco.
