THE ROLE At Baseten, we’re looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive our most complex, cross-cutting infrastructure programs. This role will operate across all domains of AI infrastructure, from the GPUs up to the multi-cluster orchestration layer. This is an execution-first role. The work is less about owning a single system and more about imposing order on ambiguity: standing up the right structures, driving decisions to closure, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks across dozens of stakeholders. If you take satisfaction in turning a chaotic, half-defined initiative into a predictable, well-governed program, this role is for you. RESPONSIBILITIES Own complex migrations end to end. Lead large-scale infrastructure migrations across teams and domains. This will involve scoping the work, sequencing dependencies, managing risk, and driving them to completion without surprises. THE ROLE: As a Software Engineer at Baseten, you will own one of the most critical surfaces of our business: pricing, billing, and revenue infrastructure. As we launch more and more products— billing is no longer just operational plumbing. It is a strategic lever for growth. This role will establish clear ownership of billing as a function and create leverage for Finance, Sales, and GTM teams while maintaining a seamless customer experience. RESPONSIBILITIES: Own Baseten’s end-to-end billing and revenue infrastructure, including pricing, invoicing, metering, and reporting foundations. Build and evolve our billing platform and integrations (including Orb), ensuring correctness, auditability, and a high-trust experience for customers and internal teams. Partner closely with Finance, Sales, GTM, and Forward Deployed Engineering to turn real-world workflows into reliable internal tooling and automation (quoting, approvals, renewals, usage reconciliation, revenue reporting). Design systems that scale with new products, packaging, and go-to-market motions, making billing a strategic lever for growth. About the Team Training Runtime designs the core distributed machine-learning training runtime that powers everything from early research experiments to frontier-scale model runs. With a dual mandate to accelerate researchers and enable frontier scale, we’re building a unified, modular runtime that meets researchers where they are and moves with them up the scaling curve. Our work focuses on three pillars: high-performance, asynchronous, zero-copy tensor and optimizer-state-aware data movement; performant, high-uptime, fault-tolerant training frameworks (training loop, state management, resilient checkpointing, deterministic orchestration, and observability); and distributed process management for long-lived, job-specific and user-provided processes. We integrate proven large-scale capabilities into a composable, developer-facing runtime so teams can iterate quickly and run reliably at any scale, partnering closely with model-stack, research, and platform teams. Success for us is measured by raising both training throughput (how fast models train) and researcher throughput (how fast ideas become experiments and products). About the Role As a Training: ML Framework Engineer, you will work on improving the training throughput for our internal training framework, while enabling researchers to experiment with new ideas. This requires good engineering (for example designing, implementing, and optimizing state-of-the-art AI models), writing bug-free machine learning code (surprisingly difficult!), and acquiring deep knowledge of the performance of supercomputers. In all the projects this role pursues, the ultimate goal is to push the field forward. We’re looking for people who love optimizing performance, understanding distributed systems, and who cannot stand having bugs in their code. Since our training framework is used for large runs with massive numbers of GPUs, performance improvements here will have a large impact. This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a

Our audience is ML engineers, infrastructure teams, and technical founders, and most of them meet us first on X or LinkedIn, around a model launch, a benchmark, an open source release, or a customer result. This role decides what that first impression is. This is a senior individual contributor role. You set the strategy and you write the posts. Day to day you'll work with product marketing, comms, design, our engineers, and our founders. This role relies on technical credibility. You don't need an engineering background, but you do need to understand what we're claiming and why it matters. We post about latency, throughput, and GPU cost, and we hold ourselves to getting those details right. RESPONSIBILITIES This role is the face of the Baseten brand on our social channels and builds our direct line of communication with the community across X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and the communities where our audience already spends time. Track the conversation across AI and open source, and move quickly when we have something useful to add. Set the social strategy: what we post where, how each account grows, and how we measure it, with a clear point of view on which channels deserve investment and which don't. Translate infrastructure-heavy product work into buyer narratives for ML engineering, platform engineering, security, compliance, procurement, and executive audiences. Partner with Product and Engineering to understand the technical architecture, customer value, roadmap tradeoffs, and proof points behind each capability. Define when a capability should be positioned as a platform differentiator, a dedicated inference requirement, a reliability story, a compliance story, or sales enablement. Build messaging that is technically credible without being overly implementation-focused or generic. Launch Strategy & GTM Execution Build and execute launch plans for major dedicated inference and serving platform capabilities, from early internal enablement through external announcement. Decide what deserves a full launch versus what should ship through docs, sales enablement, customer-specific materials, or targeted enterprise outreach. Create launch assets including messaging briefs, landing pages, blog posts, sales decks, one-pagers, FAQs, demo storylines, competitive talk tracks, and customer-facing proof points. This is a high-visibility, execution-critical role sitting at the intersection of infrastructure engineering, capacity planning, vendor/partner management, and customer delivery. You will own the end-to-end delivery lifecycle for large-scale compute infrastructure — from initial site/capacity commitments through power, networking, and hardware bring-up, to production-ready GPU/compute capacity landing in the hands of internal teams or customers. You'll be the person who turns ambitious infrastructure roadmaps into predictable, on-time, delivery. RESPONSIBILITIES Own delivery of on-prem infrastructure builds — colocation expansions, power/cooling readiness, rack-and-stack, network fabric bring-up, and hardware acceptance testing — coordinating across colo providers and partners, network engineering, hardware ops, and vendor teams. Drive neo cloud delivery programs — manage capacity delivery from GPU cloud and neo cloud partners (e.g., colocation/bare-metal/GPU cloud providers), including contract milestones, capacity ramps, SLAs, and go-live readiness. Build and maintain master delivery schedules across concurrent, multi-site, multi-vendor programs, integrating power/shell timelines, hardware lead times, logistics, and software/platform readiness into a single critical path.
