About the Team The Future of Computing Research team is an applied research team within OpenAI’s Consumer Devices group. We study how AI systems perceive people and their surroundings, and we turn that research into capabilities for future products. Our work spans machine learning, sensing, and hardware, with a focus on building systems that work beyond controlled environments. About the Role We’re looking for a machine learning engineer to help shape how future AI systems understand the physical world and the people in it. The role focuses on multimodal perception and authentication, bringing together signals from cameras, microphones, and other sensors. You’ll work with specialized perception models and larger multimodal models, and partner with hardware, firmware, software, and product teams to bring new research into real-world systems. This role is based in San Francisco. We work in the office three days per week and offer relocation assistance. Synthesia is the world’s leading AI video platform for business, used by over 90% of the Fortune 100. Founded in 2017, the company is headquartered in London, with offices and teams across Europe and the US. As AI continues to shape the way we live and work, Synthesia develops products to enhance visual communication and enterprise skill development, helping people work better and stay at the center of successful organizations. Following our recent Series E funding round, where we raised $200 million, our valuation stands at $4 billion. Our total funding exceeds $530 million from premier investors including Accel, NVentures (Nvidia's VC arm), Kleiner Perkins, GV, and Evantic Capital, alongside the founders and operators of Stripe, Datadog, Miro, and Webflow. About the role For years, avatars have been something you watch. You write a script, we render a video, someone presses play. That model has taken AI video a long way but it has a ceiling. A video can't answer a question. It can't read the room. It can't role-play a tough conversation and adapt when you push back. We're changing that. Interactive Avatars listen, talk, and respond in real time; inside your product, your website, or your internal tools. You bring the logic and the language model; we power the avatar layer: the speech, the expression, the listening, the sense that there's someone actually there. It's early. Interactive Avatars is in closed beta today, and the teams building on it are pushing it into places we didn't expect - AI sales reps, always-on support agents, interactive trainers, onboarding guides. We're hiring a Product Manager to own it and take it from beta to a platform that thousands of developers build on. This is a role with real scope. You'll help define what a real-time avatar API should be, the surface developers integrate against, the experience end users feel, and the commercial model that makes it a business. You'll work directly with the engineering and research teams building

As a Senior Backend Engineer on Coder's Enterprise Experience team, you'll build the systems that help large organizations run Coder in production with confidence. You'll improve how Coder scales, how it's upgraded, and how reliably it performs in regulated, air-gapped, and enterprise environments. You'll work on a genuinely cross-functional team of backend, platform, and QA engineers who own the end-to-end experience for Coder operators. From designing new features to evolving Coder's architecture, you'll partner across engineering and product to solve complex problems and ship software that operators trust. What you'll do here Design and build new features end to end, from technical design through production rollout. Design and implement backend architecture changes that support Coder's long-term scalability goals. Investigate and resolve scalability bottlenecks under production-like load, from database access patterns to concurrency handling in coderd. Improve database migration safety and upgrade reliability through schema compatibility, background migrations, and safe rollback strategies. Own the backend side of issues surfaced by Coder operators and administrators. Document the design, implementation, and operational tradeoffs of the systems you build. Participate in code reviews, RFC-style design discussions, and on-call rotations for the services you own. What we're looking for 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant production experience with Go. Deep understanding of Go's concurrency model, including goroutines, channels, the sync package, and debugging race conditions under real-world load. Experience designing and operating relational databases in production, including schema design, migrations, and transactions. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional debugging and troubleshooting skills, with the persistence to drive complex problems to resolution. A self-motivated, analytical engineer who enj

Salary range - $250k - $350k | Equity - up to 0.5% | In-person NYC About Datalab Datalab trains models that read documents reliably at scale. The world's most important information is trapped in PDFs, scans, and files that can't easily be parsed, and getting it out correctly matters. From frontier AI labs processing training data to Fortune 500s like Siemens extracting decades of engineering records, Datalab is where businesses turn to when extraction has to be right. We’re at an 8-figure run rate with a team of 7. Anthropic is a customer. And we have hundreds more across FAANG, frontier AI labs, healthcare, finance, government, and legal. Our tools, Chandra, Surya, Marker, and Lift, have 70,000+ GitHub stars and broad developer mindshare. We're backed by founding members of OpenAI, FAIR, and Hugging Face. Role Overview We're looking for a Research Engineer to own problems end to end across our models, inference service, and product. You won't just train a model and hand it off. You'll take it from training through benchmarking, into our inference stack, and work with the team to integrate it into our products. We're a small team that has shipped the current state of the art OCR model, Chandra. Our models collectively have 70k+ Github stars. Our tools are used internally at frontier AI labs like Anthropic, and Fortune 500 enterprises like Siemens. Our team focuses on training small, efficient models that outperform much larger LLMs on domain-specific tasks (like OCR, structured extraction, tables). We move fast, prioritize practical results, and build tools that are open, reproducible, and built to last. You'll test hypotheses quickly, iterate on results, and balance experimental rigor with shipping to customers. Day to day: A typical project might look like: identify a gap in extraction quality on long documents, train and benchmark a new model, optimize it for inference, and work with the team to ship it to users. Concretely: Train and evaluate models: Train task-
