Senior Ai Ml Operations Engineer in Canada

Senior Machine Learning Developer Location: Montreal, Quebec, Toronto, or Ontario About Numa Numa is building the platform to power AI-native dealerships, rearchitecting automotive service and sales with advanced AI agents that automate customer interactions, streamline operations, and reimagine how dealerships work. Numa integrates AI into every aspect of dealership functions—from rescuing customer calls and voicemails that generate more revenue, to reducing customer resolution times that drive overall customer satisfaction (CSI), to improving dealership team productivity and accountability. Numa has raised $50 million from leading investors (Google, Threshold, Costanoa, Mitsui, and Touring Capital). The Role We’re hiring a Senior Machine Learning Developer to build and ship ML/AI systems that interact with real customers thousands of times a day. Our voice agents book service appointments, rescue missed calls, and route callers through natural conversations. You’ll work across products and platforms. You’ll ship AI features including prompts, agents, tools, and production ML models, while building the evaluations and tooling that help teams ship with confidence. You’ll also contribute to our ML platform, including model serving, LLM infrastructure, and production observability. At Numa, we believe great ML is about more than building bigger models. It’s about knowing whether a change is good enough to ship. Our evaluation-first approach makes that measurable in CI and production. What You’ll Do Build conversational AI systems for phone and SMS that understand customer needs, take action, and know when to act autonomously Develop tooling such as memory, knowledge graphs, and validated customization that help agents reason and adapt to dealership needs Train, evaluate, and deploy ML models using Ray Serve and Dagster for prediction, classification, ranking, and capacity forecasting, and keep them healthy in production Create offline and online evalua

About the Role: We're hiring Senior and Staff Data Platform Engineers to join the Data Infrastructure teams in Toronto. Together these teams own the infrastructure that processes billions of events per day: Spark-on-Kubernetes, Flink and Kinesis pipelines, a multi-petabyte Delta Lake, a large-scale MemoryDB feature store, Databricks multi-environment operations, and the catalog and lifecycle systems that govern it. The team is small and senior. Each engineer owns major platform components: you design it, build it, and support it in production. This is a hybrid-role based out of our Toronto office. You must be willing to travel to our Toronto office two days/week. What You'll Do: Spark-on-Kubernetes — EKS-based compute platform for Spark workloads: cluster configuration, Pod Identity IAM, job environment setup, Kustomize overlays, and shadow canary validation Event ingestion — Rust services and Flink jobs processing billions of events per day over Kinesis; throughput, reliability, on-call response, and AI-assisted operational tooling to reduce toil Platform infrastructure — Terraform modules for environment provisioning, cross-account AWS IAM, ARC runner infrastructure, and CI/CD for data platform changes Feature store and ML compute — Flink-based real-time feature pipelines feeding a large-scale MemoryDB cluster; GPU capacity governance and Databricks multi-environment operations for ML training workloads Workflow orchestration and CDC — Airflow-based DAG deployment, change data capture pipeline operations, and data quality monitoring Your Background: 3+ years building and operating production data platform infrastructure at the cluster or platform level, across Spark, Flink, Kinesis, Kubernetes, or equivalent Deep experience in at least one of: Spark-on-K8s cluster operations, Rust-based data or systems engineering, Kubernetes platform engineering and IaC, or data catalog and governance tooling Production AWS experience or equivalent: EKS, S3, Kinesis, and mu

About the Team The DoorDash Research Fellowship is a 3-month program (extendable to 6 months) looking for Summer and Fall 2026 cohorts, for researchers and engineers who want to work on the hardest applied ML and AI problems in local commerce. Fellows are given the resources, autonomy, and access to real-world operational data needed to pursue ambitious research directions — with the goal of producing work that influences both the field and how DoorDash operates at scale. This program is modeled on the best external research fellowships: fellows are treated as independent researchers, not as junior employees on a product team. You pick the problem (within a set of priority areas), you own the direction, and you publish or ship the outcome. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will receive… Dedicated compute allocation sized to the research agenda — GPU clusters for training and inference budgets for experimentation Full access to DoorDash's research infrastructure — our internal RL stack, training and evaluation pipelines, RL environments built on real operational systems, agent evaluation harnesses, and the tooling our own research teams use day-to-day. Fellows are first-class users, not sandboxed visitors. Access to DoorDash operational data — real-world datasets spanning logistics, merchant operations, consumer behavior, and marketplace dynamics, under appropriate data governance Research mentorship from senior researchers and engineering leaders at DoorDash, plus a named research sponsor for each fellow who meets with you weekly and is accountable for unblocking your work Speaker series featuring leading researchers and practitioners from academia and industry — faculty from top ML programs, research leads from frontier AI labs, and senior operators from across tech. Fellows get dedicated 1:1 time with speakers when possible. A cohort of fellows working alongside you — a small, tight-knit group of researchers tackling different problems but sharing
