The Opportunity We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to help us reinvent Postman's Notifications Platform for the next generation of AI-powered, agent-driven experiences. As Postman evolves to support agents and autonomous workflows, notifications become much more than simple alerts. They need to be contextual, intelligent, reliable, and deeply integrated into how users interact with the platform. You'll play a key role in building the foundation that makes that possible. This isn't a role focused on maintaining an existing system. It's an opportunity to rethink and rebuild a critical platform from the ground up that will power notification experiences across Postman for years to come. You'll have significant influence over the platform's architecture, reliability, and developer experience, working closely with teams across the company to build something scalable, intuitive, and easy to adopt. ABOUT THE ROLE: As an ideal candidate you have a good understanding of how highly scalable and reliable production infrastructure is built. Most of our backend infrastructure is written in Rust. So familiarity with a compiled language such as C++, Rust, or Go is highly beneficial. RESPONSIBILITIES: Build the SpaceXSI API that serves our models to developers worldwide Own the end-to-end system responsible for high-throughput inference, handling billions of tokens per minute with low latency and high availability, including model serving infrastructure, request routing, SDK development, rate limiting, observability, and efficient scaling BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: Expert knowledge of either Rust or C++ Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining reliable and horizontally scalable distributed systems Knowledge of service observability and reliability best practices Experience in operating commonly used databases such as PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, and MongoDB PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: Experience with LLM inference engines and serving frameworks (e.g., SGLang, TensorRT, vLLM) Experience designing or building with agent SDKs and agent orchestration frameworks Experience with

An overview of this role As an Intermediate Backend Engineer (Python) in GitLab's Agent Foundations stage, you'll go beyond using AI tools. You'll help build the foundations for GitLab's agentic AI experiences: the platform that lets AI agents work across the whole software delivery lifecycle, not just write code. That covers the reusable building blocks agents and flows are made from as well as our core harness, Duo Developer. Most of your work will be backend engineering in Python, using libraries such as LangGraph to build secure, reliable and scalable features in our AI Gateway. You'll also work across the stack where needed.
