About Zoox Zoox is transforming mobility with fully autonomous, electric vehicles designed from the ground up for a driverless future. Our mission is to make transportation safer, more sustainable, and accessible to everyone. At Zoox, innovation, collaboration, and a bold vision for the future drive everything we do. About Our Part Time Student Worker Program Zoox’s program offers hands-on experience with cutting-edge technology, mentorship from some of the industry’s brightest minds, and the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to real projects. We seek part time student workers who demonstrate strong academic performance, engagement beyond the classroom, intellectual curiosity, and a genuine interest in Zoox’s mission. Project Overview Zoox is seeking a motivated (graduate or upper-level undergraduate) student worker to join our team, focusing on (building and validating a driving risk assessment system, an experimental RAG system for proactively testing autonomous-vehicle behavior) In this role, you will: Design, build, and iterate on an end-to-end RAG pipeline for autonomy validation, owning it from prototype to demo Define and run empirical experiments that "show it with data" rather than relying on assumptions Work through ambiguous, open-ended problems with a researcher's mindset and a bias toward rapid iteration Communicate complex results, trade-offs, and uncertainty clearly to the team and stakeholders Qualifications Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in a relevant quantitative field (Engineering, CS, Physics, Neuroscience, Biology/Computational Bio, or similar) Strong programming skills in Python Solid data manipulation understanding (e.g., SQL, Pyspark, Scala) Solid foundation in machine learning and statistics Comfort operating independently under high uncertainty on open-ended problems Excellent written and ver

About Zoox Zoox is an autonomous ridehailing company building the world's first purpose-built robotaxi — fully electric, bidirectional, with no steering wheel or driver's seat. Backed by Amazon and founded to make transportation safer, cleaner, and more accessible, Zoox designs its vehicles entirely around the rider. We're currently operating in Las Vegas and San Francisco, with Austin and Miami on the horizon, and testing underway across seven U.S. markets. About Our Part-Time Student Worker Program Zoox's part-time student worker program puts you at the center of one of the most ambitious challenges in transportation. You'll contribute to real projects, work alongside engineers and researchers pushing the boundaries of autonomous technology, and gain experience that goes well beyond the classroom. We're looking for students who bring strong academic foundations, curiosity that doesn't stop at coursework, and a drive to be part of something that matters. Role Overview Support Zoox's Rules of the Road (RotR) program, where a miner + LLM/VLM tooling method automatically mines and triages potential road-rule violation events from simulation and fleet data. The student will be helping create or improve the data miners that generate the candidate events, help develop and evaluate the VLM triagers — curating golden datasets, measuring precision/recall against expert triage, and extending automation to new regulations and data sources. Responsibilities Develop and iterate data miners locating potential RotR Violations following SSO requirements Develop and iterate on VLM/LLM workflows and pipelines for classifying RotR events Curate golden datasets and evaluate triager precision/recall against human triage Required Qualifications Extend triagers from simulation to fleet/service data Strong Python / Pyspark / SQL skills Coursework in machine learning, computer vision, or NLP. Understanding of supervis

We're looking for students who bring strong academic foundations, curiosity that doesn't stop at coursework, and a drive to be part of something that matters. Role Overview This role requires supporting the end-to-end validation pipeline for AI tools: maintaining test datasets, running benchmarks, and measuring agent accuracy across routing decisions, classification labels, and structured output fields. Responsibilities Run and maintain the benchmark pipeline, analyzing results to identify routing errors and regressions across agent variants Build and expand ground truth datasets used to evaluate agent outputs against known-correct answers Identify and address gaps in benchmark validation and support building a more comprehensive evaluation infrastructure to improve validation prior to release Develop new evaluation dimensions such as label accuracy and structured output correctness beyond the existing team classification benchmarks Investigate failure modes in agent outputs and work with engineers to surface actionable improvements Write scripts and tooling to automate data collection, result parsing, and metric repo

Zoox is on an ambitious journey to develop a full-stack autonomous mobility solution for cities — and the System Design and Mission Assurance (SDMA) team plays a foundational role in making it happen. We’re responsible for constructing the safety case and fail-operational design for our autonomous robotaxis before they hit public roads. We’re looking for a part-time Full Stack Software Engineer (approximately 20 hours per week, starting for 6 months) to join the team and gain hands-on, real-world experience building the tools and automation that drive Zoox’s safety metrics. This role is an excellent opportunity for local students who want to apply classroom learning to cutting-edge autonomous vehicle technology. Under the mentorship of a senior engineer, you’ll collaborate with PMs and engineers to design, develop, and enhance applications used in Zoox’s safety evaluation processes. In this role, you will: Help develop and implement scalable applications to automate the generation of Zoox’s safety metrics. Collaborate with software engineers and PMs to build and test new features. Improve existing tools by optimizing latency, CPU/memory usage, and database queries. Qualifications: Exposure to SQL, Spark, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, or Python. Experience with a Front-End UI Framework (e.g., Vue, React, Svelte) or a web framework (e.g., Flask, FastAPI). Comfortable using Google Suite or Microsoft Office; willing to learn tools like JIRA or Confluence. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Actively enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year college program pursuing a degree or certificate in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Bonus Qualifications: Familiarity with a low-level language such as Java, Kotlin, C, C++, or Rust. Understanding of low-level Linux system protocols, firmware,
