ABOUT THE ROLE: The fire protection engineer provides engineering design support and subject matter expertise in the following areas: fire protection, life safety, building and fire codes, fire hazard and risk assessment of materials and processes, fire and smoke spread, industrial fire hazards, fire investigation support, and other fire and life safety issues. RESPONSIBILITIES: Support engineering design, analysis, calculations and specifications for facility fire and life safety systems Develop building and fire code compliance documents and fire life safety designs for SpaceX launch facilities Perform hazardous material analysis for code compliances purposes, such as chemical classification, chemical quantity analysis, chemical inventory management, and related system design support Support facility construction teams to develop field solutions Support commissioning activities during pre-test and AHJ testing phases for launch site facility builds Conduct fire/life safety code reviews and analyses Prepare and present technical reports and presentations Review and comment on shop drawing design packages developed by contractors Develop AM&M (Alternate Means & Methods) t

ABOUT THE ROLE: Join the High Power Engineering team supporting SpaceXSI to design, build, operate, and maintain electrical infrastructure for AI training campuses. As a Civil Engineer on the Battery Storage team, you will work with a small on-site team to scale high-capacity power systems on a schedule set by compute demand. The position is based in Memphis, TN, with potential travel to other sites. RESPONSIBILITIES: Own civil and site design for the battery storage plant: pads, foundations, grading, drainage, access roads, fire lanes, and equipment yards coordinated with electrical collection and NFPA 855 spacing. Support the fire and life-safety case with civil provisions: water supply, hydrant layout, deflagration venting clearances, and emergency vehicle access for AHJ review. Coordinate seismic and severe-weather (tornado/high-wind) structural design basis for storage blocks, transformers, and equipment supports with structural engineering. Produce issued-for-construction civil packages: site plans, sections, details, specifications, and bid support. The Mechanical Systems Design and Analysis Engineer will support the development of one of the following sub-teams within Environmental Controls Systems (ECS): Cabin Air Conditioning, Liquid Cooling, Air Distribution, Cabin Pressure Control, Fire Protection and Smoke Detection, Ice and Rain Protection, Air Quality, and Electrical.
