Role Overview We are seeking a high-credibility Head of Compliance to lead and oversee our Compliance function for a Malta-based crypto trading business. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring direct engagement experience with the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA), prior MFSA PQ/approved-role status, and the expertise to navigate the EU regulatory landscape under MiCA. Operating in an agile environment, you will balance strategic advisory with direct execution mentoring a lean team while taking full ownership of regulatory governance and risk remediation. Key Responsibilities: Regulatory Engagement: Lead and oversee all regulatory matters, including audits, exams, onsite inspection, regulatory reporting, ongoing regulatory dialogue with regulatory agencies, including the MFSA, FIAU, and broadly EU agencies where applicable. MiCA & Crypto Oversight: Lead the firm through MiCA licensing and transition processes, ensuring CASP/VFA policies, product features, and operational controls align with EU regulatory standards. Governance & Monitoring: Own and execute the compliance program, board reporting, and internal policy registers. Remediation & Advisory: Pragmatically resolve legacy compliance issues while delivering commercially minded

The Head of Risk - Malta is responsible to: Risk Management Set up and manage the Risk Management Framework : Establish appropriate risk policies and procedures to minimize the Company’s risks. Recommend updates to the Risk Appetite Statement: Advise the Board of Directors on annual updates and appropriate risk tolerance limits, clearly outlining the level of risk acceptable in line with strategic goals. Maintain a risk register : Systematically record identified risks and mitigation actions. Identify, analyze, quantify, and mitigate risks : Address risks faced by the Company with appropriate actions. The risk identification should encompass not only integrity risks (such as AML/CFT and fraud) but also ICT, operational, market, credit, legal, compliance, conflicts of interests, and other relevant risks in accordance with all intended crypto-asset services. The risk identification process should address risks at various levels, including individual business lines and the overall entity together with outsourced activities. Conduct ongoing risk assessments: Regularly evaluate risks to ensure they are managed effectively. Our Compliance Infrastructure team is responsible for the development and maintenance of systems, processes, and technologies that support our organization's compliance activities. This includes the Global Financial Crimes and Compliance Operations team, which manages financial crime risk and ensures compliance with anti-money laundering (AML), sanctions, and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC) regulations. Our Financial Crimes Compliance team is responsible for ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations in the countries where we operate. About the Role: Come join our International Sofia (Americas) compliance team supporting the Americas region. The Sofia (Americas) Financial Crimes Analyst will work remotely and will closely assist and directly report to the Financial Crimes Manager, who reports to the Head of Financial Crimes Investigations. The Sofia (Americas) Financial Crimes Analyst will assist with various assignments supporting the Compliance Program of the Company for the Americas clients (US & Canada). Responsibilities Review alerts for transaction flows of digital assets and fiat currency in order to identify risk and potential suspicious activity. Ensure compliance with current Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Sanctions regulations, and other relevant legislation. Conduct account investigations and open source research in an effort to address any potential unusual activity. Perform due diligence on customers and review and investigate potential matches against sanctions and Counter the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) lists and ensure proper procedures are followed. Adhere to all policies and procedures. Maintain proficiency in all aspects of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/AML compliance; attend AML training as assigned by the Compliance Officer.
