Our growing ML performance engineering leadership team is looking for an Engineering Manager, ML Performance Optimization. The centralized ML performance team at Zoox plays a crucial role in enabling innovations across all our ML research teams to develop and deploy models across our robotaxi and cloud infrastructure and to advance cutting-edge training and inference optimization techniques. Our perception stack is responsible for building Zoox’s world-class 3D environment model from multi-modal sensor data. Zoox is building the world's most advanced self-driving hardware and software solution, and nearly every part of it depends on moving data reliably. Sensor frames to perception, planner decisions to vehicle controls, telemetry to the cloud, and remote operator video back down again. All of it crosses process, host, and network boundaries under hard latency and reliability budgets, on a vehicle that has to keep working when a link degrades or a network gets congested. The Software Core Connectivity team owns that data path end to end: in-vehicle messaging (pub/sub, RPC, inter-process and inter-host transport), the vehicle's internal network, and vehicle-to-cloud connectivity. It also owns the transport and serialization abstractions the rest of the software organization builds on. Every one of those paths crosses a team boundary, so the work happens alongside firmware, product security, simulation, manufacturing, and IT, and those partners rely on this team for transport and networking depth to achieve their goals. As the team leader you will own the roadmap and the release commitments, and you will spend a real share of your time in those partnerships. The Program Management Office (PMO) at Zoox is responsible for driving cross-functional program planning and execution at the highest level. We partner with leaders from across the company in vehicle development, system design, software engineering, manufacturing, fleet operations, and business functions to develop and deliver major corporate milestones on the path to launch, and beyond. Our program managers contribute to the end-to-end success of technical, integrated product milestones involving both of our vehicle platforms - the Toyota Highlander test fleet and Zoox's purpose-built robotaxi. As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) for Core Autonomy Capabilities in PMO, you will own the portfolio of programs launching fundamental new autonomy and safety capabilities: fail-operational architectures, the next generation of the perception and motion planning stack, learned scene understanding and behavior models, collision avoidance, and the guidance and routing capabilities that expand where the vehicle can drive. These are new capabilities rather than refinements of shipped ones, and they sit on the critical path to launch. This is a high-leverage, high-visibility portfolio role. Rather than a single subsystem, you will own several capability programs running concurrently, partnering with the TPMs who drive them and driving programs directly where no dedicated owner exists. The engineering, validation, and safety teams behind this work sit across several organizations outside your reporting line, so building credibility quickly and driving decisions without formal authority is core to the job. Perception data is core to how Zoox’s robotaxis understand the world, and as Senior Manager of Perception Data, you will own the flywheel that turns that data into safer, smarter driving. You will lead our perception data organization, spanning data science, data engineering, and data labeling, and own how we mine logs, automate annotation, feed high value data into our models, and close the loop through analysis and measurement. The most valuable examples in our corpus are often the hardest to find: rare behaviors, unusual interactions, safety critical events, and the long tail of real world urban driving. Your role is not only to build the systems that process this data, but to decide what data matters and why, and to build the learning loop that lets Zoox improve model performance faster. This is an opportunity for a leader who blends strategic thinking with strong execution, has done it before at scale, and knows how to partner with ML leaders, metrics pipelines, and infrastructure teams.
